Canada’s economic leadership recognized in China

the CanadaVisa Team - 04 June, 2010

Canada is being recognized in China this week for being a world-class destination for potential investors. Canadian Minister of International Trade, Peter Van Loan, said Canada is one of the best locations in the world to invest in sophisticated, cost-effective science and technology partnerships.

Van Loan also announced Invest in Canada Week, which will attract foreign investment and take place in October at Expo 2010 world’s fair in Shanghai.

Canada has one of the most generous research and development tax credits of the G-7 countries, as well as the world’s soundest banking system, solid economic growth and a high quality of life.

As evidenced by Canada’s leadership in weathering the global economic downturn, Minister Van Loan said, “Chinese investors are enthusiastic about Canada’s success story and see our country as a hub of opportunity and as a dynamic business partner.”

Van Loan made these comments while in Shanghai to attend the Canada Pavilion at the Expo 2010 world’s fair. During his visit to China, Van Loan met with China’s Minister of Science and Technology and with the Vice Minister of Commerce.

On June 2, 2010, the Canada Pavilion welcomed its one-millionth visitor, making it one of the most popular attractions at Expo 2010.
