Saskatchewan invites 502 immigration candidates in latest PNP draw

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited a total of 502 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence. The draw took place on January 21.

Candidates were invited under the International Skilled Worker Category, through two subcategories: Express Entry, and Occupations In-Demand

A total of 189 invitations were sent out through the Express Entry sub-category, and 313 were sent out through the Occupations In-Demand category.

Those invited were required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile, and score at least 77 points. They were also required to submit their Educational Credential Assessments.

In addition, candidates needed to have work experience in one of 79 eligible occupations. These are available on the Saskatchewan government website.

The purpose of Saskatchewan's EOI system is to allow the province to choose candidates that are most likely to be successful in the province's labour market. They are assessed according to multiple factors such as their work experience, education, language ability, age as well as connections to the province.

Connections to the province can include having a job offer, or having a relative living in Saskatchewan.

Candidates are given a point score out of 100 based on these factors. The highest scoring candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category

In the latest draw, Saskatchewan invited 189 immigration candidates under the Express Entry sub-category.

This sub-category is for immigration candidates interested in immigrating to Saskatchewan, and who also have a federal Express Entry profile.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Saskatchewan are given an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. This effectively guarantees receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence in a subsequent federal Express Entry draw.

Saskatchewan Occupations In-Demand sub-category

In the latest draw, Saskatchewan invited 313 immigration candidates under the Occupations In-Demand sub-category. Candidates do not need to have an Express Entry profile to be eligible. This sub-category is for candidates who have work experience in occupations that would address the province’s labour shortages.
