The Government of British Columbia issued 26 new invitations to apply for a provincial nomination under its tech-focused pilot program in a draw that took place on June 6.

The new invitations were issued to eligible British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) candidates who have a full-time indeterminate valid job offer in one of the Tech Pilot's 32 prioritized technology sector fields.

The BC PNP Tech Pilot was introduced in 2017 as a way to attract and retain foreign tech workers and international students who have completed their education in BC, or elsewhere in Canada, and have the necessary skills for the province's technology sector.

Candidates invited under BC's Express Entry-aligned streams, such as the  EEBC - Skilled Worker and EEBC - International Graduate streams, receive 600 additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) if their application for provincial nomination is approved.

Candidates selected under the Skills Immigration categories will have their applications for permanent residence processed outside the Express Entry system after they receive a successful nomination from the province.

Individuals interested in immigrating to Canada through the BC PNP must first submit an online profile with the BC PNP and complete all sections of the registration form.

Once a profile is assessed, applicants receive a score based on civil status, education, work experience, and other factors. They are then entered into BC PNP Skills Immigration selection pool.

The minimum scores for each category involved in the June 6 draw were as follows:

It is important to note that an invitation to apply to the BC PNP is not the same as a federal government Invitation to Apply or ITA.
