From January to June this year, overall intake levels were five percent higher than for the same time period last year and nearly 20 percent higher than levels in 2011. In total, more than 125,000 new foreign workers entered Canada through June 2013, as opposed to 119,000 in 2012 and 100,000 in 2011.
This surge in foreign worker admissions has occurred despite recent crackdowns to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program.
