July 1, 2014 is Canada Day, Canada’s 147th birthday. To celebrate, many proud Canadians are participating in festivities in cities and regions across the nation.

Many Canadians are flocking to Ottawa to join in the many activities taking place on and around Parliament Hill. The nation’s capital is known for its annual Canada Day festivities, which include free outdoor concerts, sports, and a fireworks display.

Prince Edward Island is also putting on a number of free outdoor activities in celebration of the day, including outdoor concerts, and meet and greets with Canadian Olympic stars, and a fireworks display.

Vancouverites can enjoy the annual Canada Day Parade, which is expected to host over 300,000 participants, as well as free concerts at Vancouver’s Jazz Festival on Granville Island.

These are just a few of the many celebration activities taking place to celebrate this great nation. July 1 is a statutory holiday nationwide, allowing for families and friends to celebrate together.
