Alberta Premier Redford has stated that she plans to speak with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper about bringing in more temporary workers to help with reconstruction in the wake of widespread flooding throughout the province.

“I think we need to think about what it’s going to take in terms of labour and work force to rebuild southern Alberta and we’ll talk in a little bit about that,” Premier Redford told reporters at the famous Calgary Stampede.

When pressed to elaborate as to whether such a work force would include temporary workers, she said

“It might. We want to make sure there’s everyone here that we need to rebuild the province and make sure the economy continues to thrive.”

Alberta is already a top destination for immigrants thanks to a booming economy. In light of recent flooding, the government has enacted a number of temporary measures to assist temporary residents already living in the province.
