Both the Provincial Nomination Program and Arranged Employment in Canada can significantly speed up the Canadian Immigration Application Process.

Provincial Nomination Program

The Provincial Nomination Program is one of the economic categories of Canadian immigration. A successful application under this program results in a Canada Immigration (Permanent Resident) Visa.

Many of Canada's provinces have an agreement with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that permits the province to select candidates who have a strong likelihood of becoming economically established in Canada and who intend to reside in the nominating province.

Applying under this category is a two-step process that begins with an application to the province of intended residence. The successful candidate receives a Provincial Nomination Certificate and then must file a separate application for Permanent Residence in Canada with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. In most cases the Permanent Resident application will be processed in less than one year.

Arranged Employment

Arranged Employment is not a separate category of Canadian immigration. Rather it is one of the six factors that make up the selection criteria under the Skilled Worker category of Canadian immigration.

To obtain Arranged Employment, a Skilled Worker applicant must receive a genuine Canadian job offer that is approved by Services Canada (SC). This approval is referred to as an "Arranged Employment Opinion" (AEO). SC will forward the AEO directly to the Canadian Immigration Visa Office processing the Skilled Worker Permanent Resident application. Canadian immigration policy requires Canadian Immigration Visa Offices to give priority to applications with Arranged Employment. In most cases the Permanent Resident application will be processed in less than one year.

Individuals already in Canada on certain types of Canadian work permits may benefit from Arranged Employment simply by having their Canadian employer extend a permanent Canadian job offer to them. An AEO from SC is not required.
