In order to apply through Category B of the of the Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream, candidates must have at least one year of work experience in one of the 11 occupations. A job offer is not required for this category and there is no mandatory minimum CRS score.

Category B functions on a first-come, first-served basis and applicants nominated by Nova Scotia are awarded an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, leaving them well-positioned for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a later federal Express Entry draw.

Category A of this stream, which remains open, requires candidates to have an arranged job offer supported by a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment from a Nova Scotia employer.
