British Columbia invited skilled workers and entrepreneurs to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in draws held November 12.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued a total of 432 invitations in the draws.

There were 409 invitations divvied up between the Express Entry B.C. and Skills Immigration categories.

The Express Entry BC (EEBC) Category is for candidates with a valid profile in the federal government’s Express Entry system, which is Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants who are hoping to obtain Canadian permanent residence.

The Skills Immigration Category is for skilled and semi-skilled workers whose occupations are in high demand in the province of B.C.

Both categories require candidates to register using B.C.’s Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which provides eligible candidates with a score based on factors such as their offer of employment, location in B.C., education, language ability and wage.

The minimum score requirements in the November 12 draw ranged between 75 and 102 for the five EEBC and Skills Immigration categories that were involved.

The remaining invitations went to candidates in two Entrepreneur Immigration categories; 18 for the Base Category and five for the Regional Pilot.

Experienced entrepreneurs who want to establish a business in one of B.C.’s regional communities or who can actively manage and invest in a B.C. business may be eligible for one of these categories.

To qualify under Entrepreneur Immigration categories candidates must have a net worth of at least $300,000 in the EI — Regional Pilot category and $600,000 in the EI — Base Category.

The minimum score for the Entrepreneur Immigration Base Category was 112, while the Regional Pilot required 121.

Use the CanadaVisa Skills Immigration Registration System Calculator to determine your potential score under the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).
