Canada releases list of approved hotels for quarantine

The Canadian government released a list of the hotels that are allowed to welcome travellers for the mandatory three-day quarantine requirement.

International air travellers to Canada are required to take a COVID-19 test when they arrive. They are then required to quarantine in a hotel for three days until they receive their results.

According to Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, this would hold back travellers around $2000 Canadian.

However, reports say that the cost to travellers may actually be much lower. Two of the hotels around Toronto Pearson International Airport say that it costs between $319 and 339 for one person. The Calgary Airport Marriot, an in-terminal hotel, is charging $1,272 plus tax. This includes food for three days as well as security.

Calgary International Airport

Toronto Pearson Airport

Montréal Pierre-Elliot Trudeau International Airport

How to book a hotel for quarantine?

You will also be able to make special requests such as accessibility-related requests as well as get information for pets.

Within four hours of making your booking, the government will send you an email confirmation. Use the ArriveCAN app to show that you made your reservation.

New quarantine requirements for air travellers

Air travellers who are departing to Canada are required to provide a COVID-19 test in order to board the plane. They will also be required to be tested again upon arrival, and quarantine at an approved hotel for three days until they receive their test results.

After receiving the results, they are required to continue their 14-day quarantine in their homes. They are then required to take another COVID-19 test towards the end of their quarantine period. Instructions for this will be provided before travellers leave the airport.
