A new draw by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program held May 21 issued 234 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence to immigration candidates in five Skills Immigration and Express Entry B.C. categories.

An unspecified number of Skills Immigration candidates in the Skilled Worker, International Graduate and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled categories received invitations. An undisclosed number of candidates in the Express Entry B.C. (EEBC) Skilled Worker and International Graduate categories were also invited.

EEBC categories are open to immigration candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada's Federal Skilled Worker ClassFederal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class economic immigration categories.

An additional 600 points is added to Express Entry candidates’ Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score after they are approved for a nomination.

Skills Immigration candidates who receive a nomination will have their Canadian permanent residence applications processed outside the federal Express Entry system.

Foreign nationals who would like to be considered through either the Skills Immigration or EEBC streams have to first register an online profile with the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) through the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS).

SIRS is a points-based system used by the BC PNP to evaluate candidates based on factors like education, work experience and proficiency in English or French.

An indeterminate, full-time job offer with an employer in B.C. is a key eligibility factor for most Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC immigration categories.
