This week, Statistics Canada (StatsCan) reported that the Canadian economy added more than five times the expected number of jobs in November, a sign that the country's economic recovery is well underway.

"It was across many sectors, many full-time jobs, which are regarded as good-quality jobs because it means steady income and a steady flow of money back into the economy," said Michael Kane, a Business News Network analyst.

The national unemployment rate dropped 0.1 per cent in December as a result of the 79,000 new jobs.

The most populated provinces of Ontario and Quebec, in particular, saw a substantial increase in the number of jobs created. Those two provinces are common destinations for immigrants to Canada.
