Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has recently announced that the Canadian Visa Office in Dhaka will offer a full range of Canadian immigration services by July 2007.
The services offered at the Dhaka satellite Visa Office are presently limited to temporary Canadian visas for visitors, workers, and students. All Permanent Resident applications for Bangladesh applicants are processed at the Canadian Visa Office in Singapore. Responsible for Canadian immigration applications from residents of Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Saba, Sarawak, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, the processing times at Singapore’s Canadian Visa Office start at a thirty-six month wait.
In July 2007, the full-service Canadian Immigration Visa Office in Dhaka will relieve the Singapore Visa Office of some of its backlog and will provide a more focused service to Canada Permanent Resident Visa applicants from Bangladesh.
