The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program issued invitations to apply to skilled workers, graduates and entrepreneurs on January 30.

A total of 356 invitations were issued to Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC candidates.

The first step to immigrating through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) Express Entry BC categories is registering a profile under the federal Express Entry system. The system manages the pool of candidates for Canada's three Federal High Skilled immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry candidates who apply for and receive a provincial nomination for permanent residence through the Express Entry BC Stream receive an additional 600 points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

Skills Immigration candidates who apply for and obtain a provincial nomination will have their applications for Canadian permanent residence processed by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) outside the Express Entry system.

An additional 19 invitations were issued to Entrepreneur Immigration candidates with scores of 109 and above. The stream is dedicated to entrepreneurs who have a personal net worth of at least CAD $600,000, business and/or management experience, have or are eligible for legal immigration status in Canada, and meet other program-specific requirements.

Candidates invited under the Skilled Worker, Entry Level and Semi-Skilled, and International Graduate categories had to register under the BC PNP Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) after completing a profile with the BC PNP's online system. SIRS is a points-based system used by the BC PNP to evaluate candidates based on factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French.

All Skills Immigration and Express Entry candidates invited must have an indeterminate, full-time job offer with an employer in B.C.

The CanadaVisa Skills Immigration Registration System Calculator can help you determine how many points you may be awarded under the BC PNP's SIRS.
