Canada is 5th Happiest Country in the World

A new quality of life report, called the “Better Life Index”, has ranked Canada as the fifth happiest place in the world.

“Canada performs very well in many measures of well-being, as shown by the fact that it ranks among the top countries in a large number of topics,” read the report.

Canada was compared to other countries in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation (OECD), which includes almost all developed nations. A few important Canadian statistics measured by the report include:

89 percent of adults have earned a high-school degree, as opposed to the average of 75 percent for most OECD states
Canada’s students score higher in reading, math, and science than most OECD states
72 percent of Canadians aged 15 to 64 had a paid job, as opposed to the OECD average of 65 percent
Life expectancy in Canada is 81 years, one year longer than the OECD average of 80

Overall, 80 percent of Canadians surveyed stated that they have more positive feelings than negative in an average day.
