In an international study conducted by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, the city of Calgary has ranked at the top of its Health and Sanitation index. Canadian cities also ranked very high for indicators of quality of life.

Calgary achieved the top spot in Mercer’s Worldwide Health and Sanitation Ranking. The index takes into account a wide variety of factors including quality and availability of hospital and medical services, levels of air pollution, and quality of public infrastructure. Calgary was certainly not alone as a Canadian city at the top of the rankings, with Ottawa only three spots behind and Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver all within the top 25 cities.

Canadian cities also fared very well in Mercer’s Quality of Life Rankings. This index takes into account a broader range of factors including the economy, education, safety and public services. In this case Vancouver was the top ranking Canadian city, earning the number 3 spot worldwide. However again the city was in good company, being followed closely by Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Calgary all within the top 25 cities in the world.
