Welcoming Indian students to Canada
Recent statistics reveal that the number of applicants applying for a Canadian student visas from India has quadrupled in the last three years. It is estimated that over 20,000 student visas will be issued to Indian students in 2011.
In addition to having some of the best performing schools in the world, Canada has also made it easier for immigrants to come to study in the country. In addition to applying for study permits, many immigrants who have studied in Canada for a certain length of time are then eligible to apply for Canadian permanent residency through programs such as the
Canadian Experience Class and various
Provincial Nominee Programs. As the Canadian economy continues to strengthen, Indian graduates are finding more employment opportunities across the country.
Australia, previously a top destination for Indian students, has introduced new changes to its student visa program making it more expensive and difficult for foreign students to get visas. As more Indian students will be looking for another country in which to study, Canada will be eagerly welcoming them into Canadian schools.
