Parent and Grandparent Program immigration application processing times are based on the latest information available from Canadian immigration authorities.

Through the Parent And Grandparent Family Sponsorship Program Canadian citizens and permanent residents may sponsor foreign parents and grandparents to immigrate to Canada as Canadian permanent residents.

Parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents applying under this program will receive Canadian permanent resident status, and may eventually apply for Canadian citizenship after fulfilling residency obligations.

The processing time for the Parents and Grandparents program is based on how long Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) expects to process complete applications already in the system. The projected processing time for the program is 20 to 24 months.

Parents or grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents may be eligible to apply for the Super Visa, which has a significantly lower processing time duration.
