Done and done. Along with 80 something people from 22 different countries, we all celebrated yesterday the end of a long journey and the beginning of a new and exciting one as Canadian citizens. Wish you all good luck. S. :)

    Scarborough office citizenship oath

Things are undoubtedly getting better timewise, yet the expectation of having the Oath within just days or even a few weeks after the test may not be completely realistic given that the system, as we all know, is still quite deficient. The text below is taken from the CIC Help Center page...

    St.Clair's applicants

Hi all, Quick update. I got the pink letter on Friday and can't stop smiling because of that! The Oath Ceremony day will be on the 27th of February, 2014. Also, although my file was originally being processed at St. Clair, it's now been finalized at Scarborough which is where the Oath...

    Urgent Passport

Unless you are in absolute need of doing it right away, and considering how inconsistent CIC can be with their very own official processing times , I would play it safe and wait for an extra day, meaning at least three working days after the Oath. My two cents. :) S.

    Scarborough office citizenship oath

It is a fair question. My application was in a ping-pong game between the two offices. Processing started at Scarborough, then it was transferred to St. Clair - which I was told was my official processing office - , and to my surprise I got the invitation to write the test at Scarborough...

    Urgent Passport

Yup! You have to pick it up in person at a Passport office. Also, there is an additional $ 110.00 fee. Here is the link: http://www.ppt.gc.ca/info/service.aspx?lang=eng

    Scarborough office citizenship oath

Hi all, Some good news here: as my wife and I were on our way out of the house to go and celebrate Valentine's Day, I decided to take a last look at the mailbox for no reason, and violá!! There it was, a brown envelop from CIC. And celebrate we did, indeed! - That was, no doubt, a great...

    Scarborough office citizenship oath

No reason to freak out. Just be patient. Other people's experiences and fast processing times should be encouraging, rather than a reason to go into panic mode. 24 months is the official processing time, and the fact that you are already done with the test so early in the process should be a...

A must read article for all students going to Canada

The name of this site is www.canadavisa.com, hence UBC's study is fully relevant here, a site focused on the Canadian experience, whether or not a similar study has been conducted elsewhere else. Also, this very same phenomenon is not necessarily true in the US, or at least not all over the...

A must read article for all students going to Canada

BTW, here is a gem from the University of British Columbia about resume-based professional job search, which is, of course, how online job hunting works: "Media Release | May 20, 2009 Employers discriminate against applicants with non-English names, UBC study suggests A new University of...

A must read article for all students going to Canada

I totally get how an MBA from the US would focus his employment seeking efforts on his hard skills. :) That's is, however, not that effective in a society where, unlike in the US, social interaction and soft skills are of particular importance when finding a job. In the US about 45% to 50% of...

    St.Clair's applicants

Yes, he did, but there was no in depth questioning about it, and quite possibly he simply got an interest on it because some of my documents were issued in the US. Clearly, the main concern was about trips made outside of Canada within the four years prior sending the application. That's...

    St.Clair's applicants

Sure. It all started with a casual, "what's up" from the officer - true story -, who was a young man. He then told me the score of the test, and before he even asked I laid all my original documents on his desk - that is DL, health card, PR Card and passports along with photocopies - , after...

    Scarborough office citizenship oath

On the board they had the official processing time, which as we all know is 2 to 4 months. But the officer that addressed everyone at the beginning clearly said, "in about two months time", which was confirmed by the officer that interviewed me. Oh, and thanks for the heads-up. S. :)
