Your divorce in Canada and subsequent remarriage is absolutely valid. You need not worry about that part of it. The annulment thing you have to do in the Phillipines is ONLY for the Phillipines. Canada recognizes the divorce you filed here so you're completely safe there, no worries.

The paperwork you have already in regards to your child and the status of you being able to keep him in Canada should be more than sufficient. You have already done all the leg work and gotten legal documentation that allows you to have your son in Canada and what not. Send them what they are asking for, unless asking for originals, send them photocopies. These papers may be needed later and you might not get them back from CIC.

All these questions from them are simply so they can dot their I's and cross their T's where your child is concerned.

So Alura your basically saying that my annulment documents from the court that has everything about my child is safe to send it to CIC, is that correct? I apologized for asking to much questions but I think your giving me answers of my every question. I salute you and your the best! Muah

Thank you to those of you who have stuck around to read this post. I know you are suffering and I humbly ask for your forgiveness if you felt mislead. I want this “comparison chart” to accurately portray the facts about where Canada's immigration program stands in comparison with our peers, and I welcome your feedback. I believe that you have to be the change that you want to see in the world. If we can confront the decision makers with data and stories that incite change, we will realize our dream of a normal Canadian family life sooner than we ever thought possible. It's a great thing isn't it Screech? Alurra71?

GFDVCA,

I applause you in your effort in trying to make a “comparison chart” finding where Canada is in relations to other country's timeline. This comparison chart, I think, is taking a very narrow simplistic comparison focusing only on timeline without taking other country's bureaucracy / regulations / budget / resources / personal cost into consideration. You are really comparing apples to oranges to mangoes to pineapples. You are giving others a false sense of "being slighted by Canada immigration".

We can't expect the decision makers to make changes based on emotional / hardship stories without due diligence on their part in detecting fraud / scams / criminals from immigrating to Canada. After all Canada is one of the sought after-designated countries to immigrate to due to very attractive social net it offers. Qualifying for Canadian citizenship is also one of the attractive features too. One of the shortest qualification period and cheapest in comparison to 5 – 10 years for the similar socialist countries. Once they get citizenship, some uses Canada as a stepping stone to US. Others leave Canada and use Canada as a medical backup plan and passport for travel purposes. CIC agents / officers have to be very objective in their examination of documentations without letting emotions cloud their judgment. They pretty much have to be “cold-hearted b*stards", for lack of a better word.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Screech here. I was in Egypt 4 years ago and a woman at a party I was at, upon hearing I was from Canada, loudly announced she hated Canada but used her Canadian passport to travel. She apparently came here for the 2 years(at the time) and became a citizen and then returned to Egypt. She uses the passport for medical emergencies and for travel. And since I don't meet that many people when I travel I would have to extrapolate that it is more common that we would like to think. It is unfortunate for us all that the world is full of users.

Quick update guys: yesterday (Dec 1) I received my work permit on the mail. It is valid for 3 years. It was printed on Nov 26 (confirmed with CIC call centre agent).

Yesterday I also sent my additional police certificate to CIC. I will let you know when they issue my DM.

FYI, my AIP was issued on Nov 13.

After 17 months 4 days and a first stage interview, we receive my wife's AIP/OWP in the same enveloppe yersterday! We are happy but this feeling remains tainted by the utter absurdity of the process.

We have not yet received the sponsor letter nor the requirements to pass medical (which we have yet to pass) or security check.

It's a relief to be able to apply for Quebec medical card but they have a 3 month exclusion period... :( more waiting !

Hi, you should post the letter here so we can see if it is further processing for landing or for relationship interview. But with AIP already granted I believe it is a landing letter.

Agreed, IF the letter that was received by the applicant was in fact the letter shown in CIC document ip08 (Appendix B), which is the AIP letter.

Recently, someone received a letter which they thought was AIP, when it really wasn't.

@ToDare. Nobody is denying that fraud exists and the system must detect it and weed those cases out. Can't it be done faster? More efficiently? Can the delays be addressed with an open two way dialog and conversation with the Immigration Minister. To have families to depend on 1 income, no healthcare, not have babies because of no insurance, not travel out till the application is complete ...... can one honestly say that the system cannot serve its constituents better than today?

Thanks to this forum, my sanity has prevailed. Members such as Screech, Allura, and other seniors have helped us wade through the times when we did not understand what the system required us to. And thanks to all for providing emotional support as well.

And thanks to GFDVCA, we have a comparison chart that juxtaposes the waiting time with the rest of the countries, the ridiculous agonizing waiting time that gets longer and longer. It may not have the data to everyones liking but it is a step in the right direction.

GFDVCA, another statistic to show is the estimated wait time at the time of application as per CIC and the actual wait time it took to get the PR status.

Ultimately it may depend on your perspective of what a government is. It is a privilege to get into Canada, but the government ultimately serves it citizens, and there are many unhappy inland sponsors that need this governmental agency to speed up and remedy the delays that have inflicted hardship on them.

i agree with everything you say. I also wonder why inland is becoming so much longer as outland as it would seem the risk for fraud would be the same. In comparing inland and outland you can see this is a deliberate move on the part of the Conservative government. I hope no one on here ever votes conservative.

I sent my OWP application together with my PR application so it was processed automatically after I got my AIP.

If you didn't send your OWP permit together with the PR application you can apply after you get your AIP.

If so, you should do it online as it is way faster. This is the link for the forms: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/extend-worker.asp
