Just a little trick, try getting through to them using the Canadian residence option, once you get through, they redirect you to the Permanent Residency agents. mind you might take up to 40 - 50 mins wait but you will get through.
Very useful thanks. What is the Canadian Residence Option?

First, thank you for taking the time to reply to me - I really appreciate it.

Just to touch on the point you raised about security - I have read again and again in various forums here that IRCC never talks about security unless it's actually been completed. For example, almost everyone who has received a PPR in the last few months (based on my research of the August and September AOR forums) say that their security was marked as not started in their GCMS notes (or according to a call center agent) until just a few days before they receiving their PPR, so when they received their PPRs they were totally surprised their security could have been completed so quickly. So, I believe security screening - and the various internal steps that are necessary to conduct it - is not something IRCC likes to disclose at all.

I have been honest and professional in reporting all of my travel and the reasons for each of the trips. I am very sorry for the long wait that you had to endure, but it's also admirable how patient you have been. Bravo! Finally, congratulations on your approval, and I hope the PPR will follow shortly. As you said, I can only hope that I am not one of the unlucky souls "randomly selected" for an extended security screening. Let's be honest, I cannot be in the minority with an extensive travel history. You and are I are likely the average, I imagine - highly skilled candidates that Canada is trying to attract...and travel often goes hand in hand with a lot of highly skilled professions. All the best - please keep in touch!

In all honesty, we really don't know the criteria, for them putting people into extensive screening (well apart from if you are from the middle east, which is well known), usually its a random selection so pray you aren't part of that. The most important thing is that you submit all documents needed and provided them as accurate as possible. I'll give my ongoing process as an example.

Submitted my application Feb 3rd with AOR on the 4th, got move to IP2 around the 27th of Feb and the my application got stuck. ordered GCMS which came back about 3 months later, only to find our i was in Review required. Submitted a letter of explanation regarding the issue, and then criminality was passed in August (6 months after) then silence till Dec, where my Spouse was asked to do a re-medical. ordered GCMS report once every 2 months and it always said, Eligibility - RR; Criminality - Passed, Security - Not Started. and by 8th Jan. my application was approved (meaning security was a matter of days). Do mind i currently live in Canada, but i also have an extensive travel history, Spanning Europe, Northern America, South America, the Middle east, and Africa. so am pretty sure it shouldn't matter.

Am now currently in the waiting list for "Ready for Visa mail".

Best of luck and I hope yours isn't as much long as mine!!! Close to a year now... :(

Hey man, thank you so much for replying.

Like you and your fiancée, I have also traveled to Lebanon and China. To add to that, I have also been to Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, but before the Arab Spring of 2011. In any case, I am hearing of stories such as yours where the IRCC have decided to target certain applications seemingly in an arbitrary way. I have also received an equal number of responses from people who made it through to PPR within a regular processing timeline even though they had extensive travel histories to a similar list of countries!

So, I am finding that trying to "read the tea leaves" is practically impossible when it comes to IRCC and security screening. It almost seems like they're drawing lots (qu'ils tirent au sort).

I am sorry that you guys haven't received your PPR yet, and I hope that you do very soon. All the best, and please stay in touch!

My fiance and I had the same problem: we traveled extensively, including Middle-East, China, etc. I have been asking around and talking to lawyers, consultants and folks in the government where I work. The answer I got is that, yes, that type of travel can raise some flags, and if you reach a specific threshold of "flags", a thorough - and time consuming - background check is triggered. Usually it takes the form of requests sent to other countries, and some of them might take time to come back. Note that some "flags" can trigger a background check on their own (spending 4 months in Syria, for example). I believe our application was delayed because my fiance lived in Pekin and Shanghai for a while, which, combined with her stays in Lebanon and Israel, could have triggered BG check.

Approved since Jan 8th, and still waiting for PPR email... This is really getting annoying now! You wait this long for PR and after being approved, they take forever to send the mail...

FYI i have sent email to NDVO, CIO-Sydney, CPC-Ottawa, Case Enquiry to request for visa email, nobody seems to answer...

Thank you

How long will it be on queue for... Why cant they just send it. After holding someone for so long, and you'll hear Sept, Oct people getting PPR.
