This is kinda surprising though. Anyone looking to work in the US, especially a student, knows how stupidly difficult it is to get a work visa, and they're all already considering Canada as a backup. What's the point of IRCC doing events there? Are they that out of touch with reality?
not everyone knows about the express entry. IRCC has been doing this for years and I didn’t know about it until 2019. I would have applied earlier. It was so easy and fast before 2019.

the rules to calculate work experience etc. is not clear unless you investigate or hire external help. There is always a cost to acquire information.

I actually started the process in 2019, and the scores went to 470 before I became eligible, and never dropped to 456 (my score at the time) :( Funny how 470 was a very high score back then. Now it's barely adequate.

I didn't know they had these events though. I was fairly up to date with them, and never came across this one.

You're right. 7 out of 10 latest FSW draws(Aug-Dec) in the span of 5 months were over 470.
French speaking folks have a substantial advantage in this current scenario.

I found out about EE from someone on my team who did the FSW route right after I convinced my company to sponsor his green card lol. It was mid 2018. He created a profile, got an ITA the next day, then got PR in less then 3 months. He thought it was a scam at first lol

The process used to take 3-5 months before COVID hit.

I did dome research on what some good places are to settle for people in my profession (2175), based of quality of living, expenses, career opportunities, income profiles, local communities etc. All of them came down to just 3-4 countries.. Canada, Germany, USA etc in no particular order but in every single website that talked about what I was looking for Canada was within top 3. Then I read a yearly report from Dribbble that talked about their platform from a global viewpoint based on real statistics and that settled it for me; it’s either Toronto or Munich. Then I started searching about ways to immigration and found that I qualify for FSW under express entry but it was too late. At that point I had 5 years of experience and that was 2019 November. I wish I had someone to guide me when I graduated or when I started working.

2175 is eligible for Ontario tech draws. If ever you don’t make it for EE, the tech draws will hopefully back you up. Late is definitely better than never.

My score is 471 as of now. People tell me there is a sweet spot one has to be in, somewhere between 454-464 maybe, to be qualified for PNP.
This is interesting. I'll have to read up on that a little bit. This page shows the history of invitations issued. Is there a way to see how many of these invitations are from which PNPs?

The first ON tech draw of 2021 selected scores between 453 and 467, and invited ~1000 people. Last year, they invited ~6000 through this stream, so there's a good chance they'll have more this year, and you may or may not fall in that sweet spot. Tech draw in January 2020 (not 2021) selected scores upto 475. The score has always been below 470 since.

Regardless, the all program score will eventually fall to 471. It'll be a bit of a wait. In the meantime, if you want to potentially reduce your wait time, there are pretty straightforward ways to get your score up by 4-5 points, and they have already been mentioned to you.

Edit: Here are more comprehensive numbers for you.

The first one shows an updated feed of PNP draws for all provinces:
https://moving2canada.com/pnp-canada-live-tracker/

The next one is a historical record of all previous tech draws (and PNP draws in general) along with score ranges:

The Cec draws have kind of messed up their selecting logics. Normally, they would select those that could not make it in the previous draws. Therefore, either you make it for the EE draw or the next tech draw would save you.

Is there any thread on this forum where people share their PR journey along with dates & stages?
Need to know every single step that comes along the way and all Express Entry related jargons.

I couldn't find any. Thanks.

This has been a really good thread, the person who started it is an immigration consultant and replies to almost every query if you tag him. He starts such a thread every month

Some hope from Ottawa! I am FSW-O, aor 04th Oct 2020. Agent on the phone said all is passed, our file is approved and in transit to our local VO for PPR. It could still take a while, but it’s so good to know things are progressing. Hang in there everyone!
IRCC is one of the most confusing people I ve ever seen
