Citizenship test: Collective action required, or expect endless delays, years. Example of the effective lobbyng of people awaiting spousal sponsorship

The creator of the pressure group for the resumption of citizenship tests, AU, has resumed his activities on social networks ... Since yesterday he launched a survey on the test preparation group on the blue network to survey people and knowing where they are in their citizenship applications ... In short, it is certainly a way of preparing the ground for the return of the activities of the pressure group ...

The federal employees have their union which does not shy away from defending their shameful "right" to continue to abuse our tax money with the 699 code, by continuing to be paid at full rate without provide any work ... (The decision of the secretariat of the Canadian Treasury Board to restrict the use of code 699 confirms that there is indeed an abuse, I am not inventing anything) ....

If these people have the right to claim to continue to enjoy our free money without working ... Then why should we be quiet and not make noise? ...

We need to lobby and make our voices heard.

Of course, given the current situation of locdown in quebec and ontario, the shares will be virtual at first ... But something must be done!

I agree with you, on the union pushing the members using code 699. This is atrocious and really the Minister of Immigration should be providing transparency of these issues instead of pushing a few articles through like the recently posted Toronto Star sponsorship article *he* contacted the Star about to pat himself on the back and make it look like he is working hard for Canadians. The deeper I get in the mess the more disgusted I get. I haven't suffered under citizenship as terribly as I am suffering under spousal sponsorship, but I am so tired of the lack of transparency with our tax dollars!

@piotrqc or anyone else, can you'll comment on worst case time line if this doesn't go the way we want. How much delay are we looking at? 1 year, 5 years, 10 years?

Limits if my dates are any indication of what is and isn't going on then here's my opinion, I applied in July 2019, been In Process since November 5th 2019 and I dont even need a test due to age, on top of that I've been a permanent resident since October 4 2000. On top of that I'm from the USA and not so much as even a parking ticket in either country. YET HERE I SIT FOR 1 1/2 YEARS AND NOTHING. So from the way it looks at the moment, it could be another 2 to 3 years before they catch up with the backlog of citizenship applications.
That's just MY opinion.

Hey everyone, I haven't been actively following of late - have there been any recent developments or updates ever since the online testing & online applications? For example, any updates on how the interview process will be carried out?

Looks like they've been skipping the interviews after the online test and going right to oath ceremony.

It seems like no interviews. Some people will get an email request for extra documents, but not everyone. After the test, there doesn’t seem to an update on ECAS except for “Decision Made” and then the email for the virtual oath. You won’t get an email with your “official” test results or anything.
For me, I didn’t get the extra doc request, just got the test invite, 10 days later an ECAS update from In Progress to Decision Made, and the virtual oath email 15 days later.

Am I reading right that they finally started inviting candidates, who had their status as "We started processing your application on XX" before the pandemic and they didn't have their test cancelled? Meaning no test was scheduled for them and now they are finally getting test invites? :)

They’ve been doing that for a while. A coworker of mine got his test invite a week before me and he never had a test date before. Multiple threads on this forum have people stating they’ve received invites even though they didn’t have a previous test canceled.

Oh hey that's great! I remember seeing you following along so I'm glad to know the journey has come to a close for you. That's amazing news, congrats!!

And, it's quite encouraging to hear that the processing times are closing down as inferred from your case. I am still quite far away from a test (still waiting for an AOR email - but it should come soon since I got an update on ECAS *fingers crossed*). Nonetheless, it's useful to know how the backlog is being handled.

Once again congrats! Have you already given your oath?

That's encouraging to hear! The test-to-interview seemed like the final huge hurdle whereas the interview-to-oath seemed like a smaller one. Glad to hear IRCC have picked up pace on both those fronts.

I didn't have a previous test and believe I was part of the first 5000 pilot as I received my invite in December and wrote on January 2.

Encouraging, but I am getting frustrated hearing people are receiving their decision made and oat invites and over 3 weeks later and my ecas still says "in progress". :(
