I got admitted in University of Alberta in civil and environmental engineering department for postgraduation.

I applied for visa on April 28, 2018
Got medical request letter on May 21, 2018
I also received a request letter to submit IELTS socre card on June 20, 2018
And today afternoon I received original passport request.

Hey guys, I would love to hear about other peoples timelines. My classes start on Sept 5th and I am a little skeptical.
Below is my current timeline

• Date Received: July 12, 2018
• medical : July 10, upfront
• biometrics : completed on July 16th

I also got IELTS score request on 6 July, but I got visa approval today. I did not even submit IELTS score as my IELTS test is on 28 July and I will get its score by 10 Aug. However I rasied CSE to ask for extension in providing IELTS score. Originally they had asked for IELTS scroe by 6 Aug but my result was to come by 10Aug so I raised CSE asking for an extension. Instead of extension, I just received visa approval letter. Should I still provide IELTS score? Account shows status as visa approved but also it says we need additional documents to continue processing your application..

I would disagree with @adiben. The minimum amount of money that you need to show is tuition fee for the first year plus 10,000 cad. So in your case that would be 29,000 cad.

Chances depends on your application. try to go through all of my posts and threads through my profile. There is a lot of information there. Do the same with every experienced member and you'll learn a lot. Also check the reasons of refusal of applicants on this forum and avoid those mistakes.

1. Can my sister/brother SPONSOR me if they are earning handsome salary?
2. Is it mandatory for my sponsor to transfer that amount to my personal bank account or we can just show their bank statement?
3. How much monthly income is good enough which gives positive indicator?

Though this was my 3rd time application, after having refused previous 2 times..

Congrats.. you were really tense yesterday about IELTS. Since ielts is additional document and your application might be strong enough for Visa Officer to believe that you are geniune student that why they approved your visa. But please fullfil this requirement. They might consider that you would be unable to provide ielts in short time . Get your visa stammped and fullfil the requirement. I heard Visa immigration officer at canada airport asks alot of questions. You should have IELTS in your hand. Atleast a case to show them you fullfill all the requirements

1) Yes they can but you have to explain in your letter of explanation or SOP why your parents are not sponsoring you instead. I had a similar case as my brother was earning much more than my father so I made both of them my sponsor though I still explained why I made my brother my sponsor.
2) Neither it is mandatory nor it is recommended to transfer money to your personal account by your sponsor. Either show their personal account or pay the tuition fee upfront which is highly recommended. Make sure the university has 100% refund policy.
3) Well it depends on the tuition fee. You have to do the math, the annual income should be enough to support you (tuition and living expenses) and your family back home how ever if you have a lot of savings already then it is doesn't matter much. You need to have tuition fee plus living expenses for the first year at least.
