Waiting for PR Card after landing - add your case here

I landed in Halifax, NS on May 27, 2016. Fingers crossed. I hope that all of us get our PR cards soon.

one basic question. While landing why do they take all previous work permits that we have? Do they throw it away or put it in the system?

Previous Work permits are not required(but keeping with you does not harm).
They don't take any WP copies and cant destroy them.

Nah...the agent who did my landing just said "you can throw that away, you don't need it anymore". I told her I'd have a work permit burning party...

Hi All,

I landed on June 11th in Toronto. I have a few questions regarding the landing and PR Cards:

1). I logged on to CIC to check status of PR cards - It didnt have my case informations etc and threw up a blank. How many days after my landing will my case show up in the system?

2) In case I need to travel back to my home country befoe my PR cards arrive what are my options? Is it possible to get my PR cards sent to me through DHL etc?

3) In case I need to travel back to my home country, do I need to apply for any travel document with the CIC? If so where can I apply for it in my home country or in Toronto?

2) In case I need to travel back to my home country before my PR cards arrive what are my options? Is it possible to get my PR cards sent to me through DHL etc?
Pr Card has to be sent to a canadian address. I believe you can travel and as long as you come back to canada by driving over the border with your COPR but outside of that you need a travel document.

3) In case I need to travel back to my home country, do I need to apply for any travel document with the CIC? If so where can I apply for it in my home country or in Toronto?
See my answer above re: the travel document.
Thanks and appreciate the help!!! If your home country has a Canadian consulate, you can apply for it there but it's best to do it within Canada before you leave.

We landed on Mar 20 submitted the photo with latest spec for all of us. Called CIC after the mentioned days and the person said, it was on the way. I received the first PR card yesterday for my wife. Really excited to get for others. PATIENCE WINS!!!

I am single applicant, will be travelling on 28th June as I got the Canada PR.
Its mentioned after arriving to Canada they will provide the PR Card.
Could you please tell me how long does it take to get the PR card? Do they hold my passport?

Processing time as of today is 64 days. No they won't hold your passport

Thank you so much for reply.
Is anyone getting PR card on time say 2weeks-1month time frame?

Or is it default for everyone to wait for 64days?

As i feel those have problem will update this wiki and for rest for whom getting PR card went easy are least bothered of this site!
Does anyone is aware of your friends/Family for whom it didn't take more than 1 month who arrived after 2016 March?

Im so excited to announce that I finally recevied my PR CARD TODAY ALL THE GLORY TO GOD!!!!! Thank you all for your help!!!

LANDED : JAN 5th, 2016

PHOTO RESUBMITION LETTER : MARCH 1st, 2016

CIC RECEIVED PHOTOS : MARCH 8th, 2016

GOT PR CARD : JUNE 21st, 2016


P.S : Just to mention that I called CIC last week and they said they had NO UPDATES about my PR.

I do not understand how some people who landed in January, resubmitted photos in March and some people who landed in March and resubmitted their pictures probably sometimes in April are receiving PR cards at the same time. It is so confusing and at the same time so scary.
