Hello,
I landed in Canada as a permanent resident in October 2022. Due to delays, I received my PR card in March 2023, and it is valid until March 2028.
I would like to clarify the residency obligation: Do I need to be physically present in Canada for at least 730 days in the 5 years before March 2028 (when my PR card expires), or do the 730 days need to be completed within the 5 years following my landing date in October 2022 (i.e., by October 2027)?
I am currently outside Canada and want to plan my return accordingly to ensure I remain eligible and can apply to renew my PR card before it expires.
Thank you.
