Wow that is just craziness. I am at least glad to know my husband's card isn't the only one in delay.
I am expecting us to wait until the end of the summer before we get his PR Card.
I hope there is some system in place that puts people like us on a priority list.

I see many people who landed this year are getting their PR cards pretty quickly.

Hello All,

I'm planning to land at Toronto around the end of May. Wanted to know if I need to fill out the PR card application form before hand (or at the Airport) or its not needed while landing for the first time.

Please advice as I'm not getting a clear answer to it.

Hi!

I just officially landed today. I didn't leave the country though; just went to CIC office. No, you don't need to do anything.
All you need to do is get your Confirmation of PR signed and then CIC will send you the card. I asked this question to the CIC agent today and she said, they'll mail it to you.

Hiya. You don't need to fill anything. The officer who completes your landing formalities will send one of your COPR to the office that issues PR cards. Hope this helps. Good luck with your new life in Canada.

I received my PR card yesterday but my wife & kids cards are still due. We (all family members) landed on 5th March 2016 at Peace Bridge, Forte Erie (near to Niagara). Not sure how long it will take to receive my family members PR card.

Hi kiranmayi.

There's is no change in the ECAS status . It is still showing decision made. Even though I now have got my PR card.

Sorry for replying late. I was traveling for last couple of days and didn't got time to check messages here.

Hi,

You don't need to fill any forms. The PR card application is automatically filed once you become a permanent resident, that is, upon landing.
When you land, the border security officer takes the two copies of Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) from you. He/she will keep the copy with the photograph and the other copy is signed by him/her and you. That copy is returned to you and becomes your proof of PR.
Your PR card application is automatically filed in the system and you receive the card in mail upon completion of the process. During this time, if CIC requires additional documents or information, they send you the request, usually through Canada post. You can also follow your application through CIC Call Centre.

Good luck.

Like many people on this forum I have been waiting a while for my PR Card.
I landed on Jan 10th. I called them April 4th and got the request for photos. Ugh - why not contacted earlier?! Considering the processing time is 54 days ish, why not a simple e-mail after that time? I allowed a further 4/5 weeks after this before I called.
Guy on the phone for the request was perfectly friendly and pulled up my file no problem.

I sent the required photos the next day courier and they got there April 8th. Signed be MIKE, which I've noticed many people have had so that's good to know! I allowed 2 and a bit weeks before calling to see if the card was now in production at least but as many others have had, I hit a brick wall with the guy. He would not tell me anything! To be fair to him he had probably dealt with a lot of people being angry at him but even so, I was perfectly calm and he went off on one for ages. I barely even spoke, he was so defensive. I felt like saying "I have travel plans based on the time it would take to get the card and now I may not be able to travel" but I knew he wouldn't care and that as usual I would get most of my information off this forum!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed the card take roughly a month to come which based off some people who've re-submitted seems to be about right (although there are ones waiting a lot longer!). I am going to Mexico for my brother's wedding in 2 and a half weeks, I hope to get it before then! I know that ETA now has a leniency period till the autumn, so I will probably be ok to fly to Canada and once I'm on the plane I know I'm fine. (I am British so I know before ETA came along I would have been fine).
I've driven in to Canada since landing from the states and will do again this weekend and know that's fine, worst comes to worst in future and can always fly to Seattle and drive from there (I'm in Vancouver).

Anyone here need their PR Card to get their driver's licence renewed? I was on an IEC Visa for 2 years and had a BC drivers licence that expired last month. I went in to renew with my landing document and they only gave me an interim licence and won't send me the card till I come back in person with PR card. The interim only lasts a few more weeks, hopefully ICBC can extend it again otherwise I can't drive with out the PR card. Thanks CIC!

I thought once I got DM and landed on Jan 10th my journey was over, not yet!

hi,

have you received your card yet? I re-submitted my photo pretty much the same day as you did.
