Temp work permit applications 2013, CIC islamabad Pakistan

Hi everyone.
I am a temp worker (PGWP-2.5 years left to expire) current working in skill level A in Canada. I got married last month and want my wife to join me here in Canada. I am trying to figure out how to do so. uptill now i have found 2 ways to do so
a) apply for visitor visa and if she gets the trv then apply for OWP from inside Canada.
b)apply for her open work permit from outside canada

can anyone help me in with an opinion of which way would be the best way to apply.in terms of
-rejection possibility
-timeframe
your responses would be appreciated =)

Hello my Friend,

I have no update yet I applied spouse open work permit in mid of sept 2014 including biometrics, last month I tried to inquire from embassy same reply "Your file is under process and reveiw Thanks for keeping your correspondence to minimum".

One thing I want to add more actual processing time for work permit applications is 7 months not 16 weeks. Please see CIC website not on Canadian high comission website.

I have one observation may be I am wrong there is fluctuation in Canadian Economy because of low oil prices, many people got layoff from jobs so Canada hold work permit applications to control unemployment in country.

I applied onpaper on 24th of February 2015 with +lmia and contract letter so far I am waiting for any reply from cic islamabad.
I submitted my passport as well.
Anybody have idea how long they reply me.

It's barely one month. Don't even send an inquiry before average processing time is passed. It might be a good idea to confirm if your application is in process. They might give you a file number.

Ohh Its really bad to hear that. So when can I expect my visa ? Is there still have any chance to get my work permit ?

How do you know there is some hold on wp applications? I applied for my spouse on Jan 27 2015 so i was expecting along time but hearing nothing after 6 months is insane..

the problem is I submitted my passport and I have job in gulf .so for my passport is not in my hand I cannot fly any where . If they took long time for prosessing 7 or 8 months .is there any way i request for my pasport.

Hello liaquat,

I am sorry but its not possible once you submitted your passport you can't request your passport back but you can request to cancel your visa application and then they will cancel and send your passport back to you.

Only thing i got was a biometrics request which i am sure was generic and not from embassy.. apart from that we did not get any response..
i got a permanent job offer after filing this application which i notified islamabad CHC about through email but so far did not get any confirmation if our profile has been updated.

I really hope SOWP are not on hold.. else if thats the case why would they allow us to file such applications and waste $250

thank you for your advice. as I mentioned earlier I applied on paper for work permit a month ago i haven't received any further instructions. so what you suggest for me .should i contact for file number or the file numder is same cic receipt number.

Hello Liaquat,

Total processing time for Canada work permit from Pakistan is 7 Months you are expecting response from CIC too early. You have to wait 7 months. I case took 8 months and I am still waiting to hear from CIC.
