If you follow this CIC browsing hierarchy, you'll end up at TRV processing time for different countries:
Home > Visiting Canada > Parent and Grandparent Super Visa > After Applying > Processing Time, then select Vistor and View by Country

So, my question is if SUPERVISA processing time same as any other Visitor-TRV or it's unique as CIC states it would take 4~8 weeks. I'm also aware that supervisa requires medical exam followed by application submission and hence needs more time. But yet, I think that it would vary depending where you are applying from.

For instance, I would like to compare among Bangladesh (myself), Saudi Arabia (zstudent) and Vietnam (TRUONGAN), as I don't know others' nationality here:

Bangladesh Saudi Arabia Vietnam
Processing Time (CIC): 14 days 49 days 21 days
Processing Time (Local): 7 days 22 days 10 days(Oct-Feb)/ 20 days(Mar-Sep)

Local sources:
  • http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/bangladesh/visas/processing-traitement.aspx?view=d (Bangladesh)
  • http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/saudi_arabia-arabie_saoudite/visas/processing-traitement.aspx?view=d (Saudi Arabia)
  • http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/vietnam/visas/processing-traitement.aspx?lang=eng&view=d (Vietnam)

I guess you guys will soon find it out; so keep updating. Thanks.

I checked on TRV operational procedure on CIC website yesterday. Interesting thing: on step-by-step basis, VO is instructed to assess the application before requesting Medical.

That means if the Medical is sent out, the application has passed the paper screening and therefore should qualify for TRV.

Hi Guys,

Really new to this forum, but I am in a similar boat. We applied for Super Visa for my mother who is from Turkey. I will keep you guys posted and hopefully this will help others as well.

We sent the application on January 16th and haven't heard anything back yet. CIC website says TRV application is being processed within 2 days in Ankara Turkey. I assume it will take longer for Super Visa.

Good Luck to Everyone!

Thanking you all very much for your post. Please keep us updated. I am going to apply for my mother parent super visa on monday 23rd January in Nairobi Kenya. My mother has been rejected temporary visa twice and the reason has been Close family ties. My family situation is as follows. We are three, myself ( Permanent Resident of canada), my sister ( Canadian Citizen) my brother ( In canada on work permit valid for three years then he will apply for PR). My mother is a widow and she used to live with me in Kenya. I had to come back to Kenya after receiving my PR card since my mother was alone. My sister has already sponsored my mother three years ago but we have not got any response from them. I have used a lawyer this time to help me with the Parent Super visa application. I am really scared of rejection once again due to family ties reason.

Seems like we're in same situation. Your mom has all her children living in Canada that makes her a candidate who has potentially higher possibility not to leave Canada whereas I'm the only one of my parents/mom.

Can you shed some light/give me some hints how a lawyer helped you out? I may use one as my mom got rejected twice before as well. Much appreciated. Thanks.

No news yet! COmpleted medical on Jan 12. As Chinese New Year is a biggest celebration in Vietnam VO will have 3 days off next week so I would see the finalization be made at the end of January.

I've a question re: NOA for the recent year, here are the details of my circumstance as I intend to apply for my mom in mid-March when I go for a vacation back home:

2010: I started working from July (6 months = Jul~Dec) and hence my NOA-2010 shows yearly income as half of my regular annual income.
2011: I worked full year, but my T4 arrives around end of Feb. If I file my tax return, I won't be able to get my NOA-2011 before May.

So, I can only include my NOA-2010, probably T4-2011 (hopefully it arrives before I leave for Bangladesh in mid-March), any of 2010/2011/2012 pay slips, Employment Verification Letter (stating my start date, position & annual salary) and Job Offer Letter.

Will these be enough to prove that I meet LICO limits? As far I know, NOA is valued the most important document among all and mine is not the latest. But I wonder if VFS-Bangladesh will understand it and go deep in finding my actual annual salary from all other docs I will provide.

If you can wait a bit, I would suggest to wait till you get your noa of 2011
Submit your tax declaration as soon as you receive your T4.
Send your declaration electronically using any tax software like (quicktax,...).
You will receive your NOA in less than 2 weeks.

If you can't wait, attach the last 5-6 pay slips + a letter from your employer showing your current salary, the start date and your position...

Don't submit the NOA of 2010, because it's half salary, and the embassy may not pay attention that this is your first NOA in Canada.

Some one told me don't apply for super visa if your parents just plan to a short visit like less than a month because they have to purchase at least one year health insurance upon their entry. It is a huge waste. He strongly suggested me to apply for multi-entry visas for my parents.

What is your opinion? Could you tell me about pros and cons about this new super visa compared to regular visa. Thanks.

Hey Jason111.....am sure there are some insurance companies who will refund the balance of the months provided no claims have been made, you will have to talk to insurance companies about this....this is as per my understanding.

If one's parents/g'parents wish to visit Canada only for a month of so then I think the regular multiple entry visa will be a much better option. Medicals are usually not asked for in this kind of visa but mandatory for super visa.

All the best!

LICO is traced back to one year preceding application date. Pay stub and Employment letter can definitely substitute for NOA.

Regular TRV application is accessed against visitor criteria that may be more difficult for parents to comply than Super Visa.

As committed by Canadian Government, Super Visa is meant to reunite families faster, so VO may consider that fact before making a decision. I will say there must be a much lower rejection rate for Super Visa if the paperworks are submitted sufficiently!
