QUEBEC PEQ LETS SHARE EXPERIENCE!!

Hi everyone,

Recently I applied under the PEQ for a CSQ. For the evidence of my French level, I provided a transcript of an exam I took in June when I completed a French course. I was told by the counsellor at the college where I took it that it was advanced intermediate level. (By the way this course is recognised by the Minister for Education.)
3 weeks after I mailed the application, I got a reply saying that my French level wasn't high enough, and subsequently my application has been refused and my file closed, and that I should apply under a different category. Turns out the course was equivalent to B1 and not B2 as required.
What gets me is that they didn't give me a chance to provide further evidence.. I thought they would give me 60 days to do that at the very least!
Has this has happened to anyone else? I want to take a recognised test (I am pretty confident I am at level B2), but I am not sure whether they will 'reopen' my file, or whether I would have to apply again (if I can??)... and of course, whether I'll have to pay the fee again. Haven't called Quebec immigration yet due to the holidays..
Please, if anyone has any information I would be so grateful!

You will have to take an exam (tefaq) and reapply as new file with new fee. If not, i believe you have 60 days to use the same fee to apply under point system.

It is normal that they close your file when you have enough document but not meet the requirement. They only give you a chance if you missing document.

Good luck.

Ok thanks for that! The only problem I'm finding is that apparently it takes 4 weeks to get the results of the evaluation, and tests tend to be held once a month, plus you have to preregister for a few weeks in advance. So probably won't make the 60 days. Also, there don't seem to be many places in Quebec City that give the test.
Thanks again :)

I did it in Montreal. They have it pretty often. Maybe it is worth to go?

I know the PR is issued on the condition that you go into the working world after getting it, but how strict are they about this? I plan to go into a work / study program after I get my PR as i'm unable to get a job with my current degree.

My status went to 'In Process' approximately 2 months after medical results were updated as received.

Timeline

Application sent: 10 July 2013
AOR: 15 september 2013
Med request: 15 September 2013
Med received: ~25-26 October 2013
Request for updated info: 29 November 2013
In process: 20 December

I sent in my RPRF when they asked for updated info.. Who do I contact to find out if they received my RPRF already? Also, did people get emails for in process or just show on ECAS?

What information do they require in the email?
Dior,

I've recently sent an e-mail to CPP-Ottawa asking them the same thing (i.e. confirmation that they had received my payment of the RPRF), and luckily they replied within just over 24h! (They are actually quite efficient in replying to e-mails - I've been in touch with them before and usually got a response within the same time frame.)

Here are the requirements:

- In the subject line, quote your application number and subject of the e-mail (i.e., "EP000****** - Right of Permanent Residence Fee")
- In the main body of the text, start off by listing the six following pieces of information about your application:

1. Surname
2. Given name(s)
3. Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD)
4. Unique Client Identifier (UCI)
5. Application number
6. Type of application (i.e. Québec Skilled Worker)

Incidentally, I'm glad to hear your application is now "in process". I have almost the exact same timeline:

1. Application received at CIO on 24 July 2013.
2. AOR received on 19 September 2013.
3. Medicals requested on 24 September 2013.
4. ECAS updated with "medicals received" on 22 October.

I still don't have "in process", but I've heard several people on this forum say that ECAS lags behind for many people (in some cases apparently people got PPR while their ECAS still said "application received"!), so I'm hoping that they are getting to my file soon too.
