Hi M K Shah...Nice to see gujarati on this discussion board..
I am from Ahmedabad too..I have done BSC specialization in Chemistry.
So If I show experience as Chemist then do they will allot me 12 points under training?
Some lawyers online told me that Indian 12+3 degree will now be consider for university level education of Quebec and they will not give 12 points. Infact they told 0 points will be given for training.
I am really confuse as they have mention 3 years of University education which I have.
So anyone from AHmedabad with BSC Chemistry has put file or have any knowledge?
Hi janki, nice to see gujarati on the forum. In fact there are some more gujaratis here on the forum.

First of all, whom did u consulted for this matter? Is it an immigration lawyer approved by CIC / MICC or some immigration agent?
Let me tell u this, there seems to be a lack of knowledge in many lawyers as well as immigration agents regarding quebec immigration. different lawyers have different opinions and different understanding regarding the same matter.

According to my understanding, Chemistry is in list of priority AOT as per list published in 2009: and if u have 3 yrs bachelors degree from university from India then surely u can get 10 points for ur education. It is considered equivalent to 3 yrs foreign degree.
Regarding pts for AOT, if u have obtained ur degree in chemistry in last 5 yrs or if u worked as chemist for at least one year in last five yrs, then surely you can get 12 pts of AOT.

Thanks a lot for details. The lawyer name is Christine Vinet, Avocate, Attorney
Membre du Barreau du Québec - Registered Member of the Quebec Bar
Membre de l'Association du Barreau canadien - Member of the Canadian Bar Association

As he is member du Barreau du Quebec, I was really afraid. He told only indian Honors degree are considered as equivalent.
After he said no, I searched a lot online and I found that Chemist is Regulated Profession in Quebec and to get licence we need to apply to "Ordre des chimistes du Québec". I search their requirement are higher then what I have.
Here in FY we had Chemistry as one subject, in SY also it was same and in TY it was specialisation with only Chemistry. In quebec if they study chemistry they are having only chemistry for 3 years.

So are you sure that Gujarat University's BSC Chemistry will get 10 & 12 points?
what is your qualification and what you doing?

Hi janki, well I m not aware about this in so much details.
My edu is Masters in Chemistry from M S university and seniors here on forum told me that I will get 12 pts for my edu being masters.
:)
Moreover regarding job of chemist being in regulated profession, surely you must check quebec immigration website.
I have very little knowledge about regulated trades and profession and related matters.
I m so sorry for not being of any help to you in this matter. :(
May be some senior forum member can address ur query.
and thanks anyways for sharing ur details. :)

My details are as follows,

1) Qualification - MBA passed in 2008 from India. And BBA passes in Dec - 2005 from India.
12 points for your masters degree and 6 points for your AOT falls in Section C (business administration and management), but you will get this 6 points only if your job is related to your education, so better check about it :)
2) Age - 27 16 points
3) Work Exp - 3 years as an advertising account executive. 6 points
4) Language - IELTS (Speaking 5 bands 2 points and Listening 7 Bands 2 points)
French - Learning DELF A1 if you are not submitting any result of french test then, 0 points, if you are submitting A1 test result, then 2 points, for A2 level test result, 6 points
5) No kids
6) No relative in Quebec
7) Fund no problem 1 point if you have funds required for 2 persons as included in your application

My spouse details are as follows,
1) Age - 27 3 points

2) Qualification - B.Sc in Biology passed in 2005 and M.Sc in zoology passed in 2007 from India . 3 points for masters degree
3) Language - IELTS (Speaking 5.5 bands and Listening 6 Bands) no points are given for spouse english proficiency

French - Learning DELF A1 if you are not submitting any result of french test then, 0 points, if you are submitting A1 test result, then 1 points
4) No relative in Quebec

Please calculate my points so i will get sure about my points.
total points = 12+6+16+6+2+2+0+3+3 = 50 points without considering 1 point for Financial self-sufficiency.

Hi Raj, pls add all these points and see if it is more than 57 points, then only you send your application, else you and your wife take french test and then apply.

Here, you are getting total 50 points. So I will not advice you to keep your application now. If you do so, chances for your file rejection are more.

It is better if you can learn french and take DELF test atleast upto A2 level for you and a1 level for your wife so you can get 6 points if you clear upto A2 level and 1 point for your spouse clear A1 level exam of DELF french test. This will make total points 57 then.

Thank you
Raj
Good Luck :)

Hi All,

Just joined the forum after doing quite a lot of reading on Quebec immigration.

However still kind of confused regarding the areas of training and education.

My details below:-

Age: 28
Education: Bsc Mathematics (Full Time) / MBA - General (Distance Education) from India completed in 2004 and 2006 respectively
Currently working as a Programme management office (PMO) Analyst in an IT company which I consider is relevant to what I have studied (MBA)
Total Work Experience: Just Over 6 years
English: Good.
French: Just Started to learn
Marital Status: Married

Details of Spouse

Age: 29
Education: Msc in Medical Documentation
Work Experience: Worked as a Medical record Technician - relevant to her studies
Total Work Experience: 3 years
English: Good
French: Just started to learn.

Could any one of the experts suggest if I am eligible to apply for Quebec Immigration. I did try in the quebec website and it states I am eligible. However would want to confirm from some of the experts in the forum.
Hi MKShah,
Could you please comment on my eligibility. Appreciate your response.

Hi MKShah,

Hello, here is the points calculation for your given details
My details below:-

Age: 28 16 points
Education: Bsc Mathematics (Full Time) 10 points for bachelors degree / MBA - General (Distance Education) from India completed in 2004 and 2006 respectively Distance Education MBA is recognised only, if it is done from IGNOU. so, pl clarify ur institution of study for MBA.
Currently working as a Programme management office (PMO) Analyst in an IT company which I consider is relevant to what I have studied (MBA) 6 points for your AOT falls in Section C (mathematics-Bach. 3 Years, university level), but you will get this 6 points only if your job is related to your education, so better check about it
Total Work Experience: Just Over 6 years 8 points

English: Good. it will not give you any points, if you dont submit IELTS test result with your application.
French: Just Started to learn It is really good that you started learning french. If you clear A1 level exam with score above 16 out of 25 in listening & speaking then total 2 points, for A2 exam, total 6 points
Marital Status: Married

Details of Spouse

Age: 29 3 points
Education: Msc in Medical Documentation 3 points for masters degree
Work Experience: Worked as a Medical record Technician - relevant to her studies 0 points for this AOT falling in section E College Level technical training: Medical Records (DCS - 3 years)
Total Work Experience: 3 years no points for work exp of spouse
English: Good no points for IELTS test result of spouse
French: Just started to learn. If your spouse clear A1 level exam with score above 16 out of 25 in listening & speaking then total 1 points

total points = 10+6+16+8+3+3 = 46 points without considering 1 point for Financial self-sufficiency.

you have not mentioned about any kids details as well s regarding funds sufficiency.

Here, you are getting total 46 points, which is even not reaching employability threshold, So I will not advice you to keep your application now. If you do so, surely your file will get rejected.

You can sit for IELTS exam and if you get average 6 bands in both listening and speaking, then you can get total 4 points for this.
It is better if you can learn french and take DELF test atleast upto A2 level for you and a1 level for your wife so you can get 6 points if you clear upto A2 level and 1 point for your spouse clear A1 level exam of DELF french test.

So, only after 6 bands in IELTS, A2 for you and A1 for your wife will give you the additional 11 points you are short of now to reach to interview threshold.
This will make total points 57 then.

Remaining 6 points can be awarded in inteview towards points for adoptability.

Wish you good luck for your application. :)
