So yesterday I called mp for my area and today he called me telling my security checks are going on as my name is matching to someone who is not allowed to come in Canada so nobody can do anything about it and we have to wait .I know I am Muslim wear hijab and from Pakistan so it could mean a lot of security checks ...but 1 1/2 year I think is too much...better they should make a rule for us that processing time for us should not to be expected to be normal time because we are below normal. really disappointed with this discriminatory system
I appreciate and admire your courage and strength. I am sure you will hear good news very soon. I see many people in this forum, who cannot even write from where they are, and they just write xxx country, or home country. Stray strong and I am sure you will be sharing a good news soon.

Congratulation.
That was a tough journey for you and us. I am still waiting to get an update after 18 months.

I am also a Muslim and I know they only hold my application because I am a Muslim. I know for sure because I am also a US citizen and the security screening makes no sense. I really dont have anything against them and When I become Canadian , if Allah wills, I will vote for the Liberals. If I dont, I will not lose sleep over it.

Hello everyone. Am happy to report that my journey as a PR holder is over and I am now a Canadian citizen. My timeline is below:

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on October 16, 2017.

2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s)... on November 15, 2017.

3. We started processing your application on November 23, 2017.

4. We sent you correspondence on February 1, 2019... (Fingerprint)

5. We sent you a notice on March 20, 2019 to appear and write the citizenship test on April 9, 2019 at 10:30 AM....

The test was super easy for anyone who lived and been in Canada for a long time. The interviewer was very polite and did not even ask to check my heavily loaded 2 passports. All in all, we chatted for 2 or 3 minutes and he stunned me by asking if I would be available to come again the next day (today) for the oath ceremony which I took :D

Before leaving he asked me if I have any question for him, and I asked him why my application was transferred from Mississauga office after 1 year to Scarborough office; to which he replied that he does know the answer or even that my application was in another office for 1 year.

Thank you all for the moral support through out this lengthy process, and a special thank you to the admins and those who periodically update the sheets. I wish you all a bright and happy future and a speedy process if you are still not there yet. Best wishes to everyone.

Congratulations! Looks like they can no longer ignore us who sent the application right after the new law started but somehow got left untouched for so long ....
