@ Miss Bee, please help me in answering the following questions:
In the form IMM 5709 under “Current Country of Residence” section, what date should be entered under the “To” field if the existing study permit has expired, but the applicant is currently under maintained status? The previous study permit was for secondary education, and a new application is now being submitted for undergraduate studies.

Should the “To” date field be left blank, or should we enter the date on which the previous study permit expired?

Thank you for your guidance.
Here’s how to handle that situation in IMM 5709 (Application to Change Conditions, Extend Stay, or Remain in Canada as a Student), under the “Current Country of Residence” section:
If your previous study permit has expired and you are under maintained status (formerly implied status):

For the “To” date in the “Current Country of Residence” section, enter the expiration date of your previous study permit.
  • Do not leave it blank.

Why?

Even though you’re under maintained status and can continue studying/working as per your previous conditions, your last official immigration document (the expired study permit) ended on that date. The maintained status itself is not a separate “permit” with its own expiry date—it simply allows you to stay under the same conditions until a decision is made.
Example:From: The date you became a resident in Canada (e.g., arrival date).
  • To: The expiration date of the previous study permit (e.g., 2024-08-31 if that was when it expired).

@Miss bee is it true that they're refusing BOWP applications with just AOR? I read somewhere here that they got refused because they haven't passed eligibility yet when they applied for BOWP

Hi Miss Bee, Thank you the quick response and clarification. But when I tried to enter the expiry date of the permit I got an error while validating the form that the "The format you entered in the following field is incorrect. The correct format is "Must be today's date or greater than today's date". The status entered is student, and the from date entered is the study permit start date. What should I do, please advice?

You can put today's date .

@Miss bee I have received an email reply from RCIC after one month submission of webform. Will it have any impact on my application?

Hello everyone! I have added my spouse and minor son as dependents in my PR application (NB PNP Skilled Worker Stream, Non-Express Entry), but the document upload tab for their documents (such as passport, PCC, and photos) is not appearing in the online portal. I have double-checked that they are listed as dependents in the IMM 0008 form and in my application profile, but I still do not see any option to upload their required documents. Has anyone else faced this issue, and how did you resolve it? Is there a specific step I am missing, or is this a technical problem with the portal? Any guidance would be appreciated.

It’s normal that the document upload tabs for their documents may not appear until you validate the IMM 0008 form (if using PDF), upload it in the portal, and proceed to the next stage.
Here’s what typically happens:
Step 1: Validate the IMM 0008 form
  • Ensure you’ve included your spouse and son as dependents in the IMM 0008 form.
  • Validate the form to generate barcodes.
Step 2: Upload the IMM 0008
When you upload the validated IMM 0008 in the online portal, the system will recognize the dependents you’ve listed.
  • After uploading the validated form and proceeding to the next step, the portal should generate additional document upload slots for your dependents.
If the slots still don’t appear:
If you’ve already uploaded the validated IMM 0008 and still don’t see the document upload slots for your spouse/son, it might be a glitch.
  • In that case, you could save a PDF screenshot of your portal page and submit a technical issue report to IRCC via the Webform
So, in short, if you’re still at the “upload IMM 0008” stage, it’s expected that the upload slots for dependents aren’t visible yet.
Once you upload the validated form, the portal should create slots for the dependents’ documents.

I have applied on September 25, 2024, also. What is your application status?
