Hi guys. Just one quick question. Do I need to be physically present in Canada to replymto P1 and P2? Or just to reply to P1?
I am currently abroad visiting family so I want to have an idea of my possible return date to Canada. I applied on Aug 1 and I am still waiting for FD.

I am in a similar situation. I am an inland applicant. I received my PR portal 1 email in May 16, I responded within the same day in Canada and I have not received Portal 2 till now. I have a scheduled vacation to my home country from August 31 to September 20, 2025. I am aware that according to the current processing time, likely I won't received my PR card before my trip.
Could you please advise on what is the best practice here? Should I respond to Portal 1 email again to state my future expected entry/return-to-Canada date (ie Sep 20, 2025)? Should I request a PPR in my home country or should I wait and see if my PR card gets issued before my trip?

In your situation, since you are an inland applicant who responded to the PR Portal 1 email on May 16 but have not yet received Portal 2, and you plan to travel outside Canada from August 31 to September 20, 2025, the best course of action is to be proactive. You should send a follow-up email to the IRCC address that sent you the Portal 1 message, politely reminding them of your pending Portal 2 and informing them about your upcoming travel dates. Mention that you are still in Canada and are hoping to complete the landing process before your departure, but if not possible, you are willing to explore alternatives. If you do not receive Portal 2 soon, and your CoPR is not issued in time for you to receive a PR card before your trip, you will not be able to use a PR card to re-enter Canada. In that case, you have two main options: (1) apply for a Permanent Resident Travel Document (PRTD) from your home country during your trip (if you receive the eCoPR while outside Canada), or (2) delay your travel if the landing is imminent. Unfortunately, requesting a PPR (passport request) to complete landing from outside is not an option for inland applicants, as you must be in Canada for the PR confirmation via the portal. Your best move now is to email IRCC immediately with your travel details and follow up weekly if needed until Portal 2 is issued.

Currently I do hold valid travel documents as worker - work permit (valid until August 2026), visitor visa (valid until January 2027). Would I be able to travel using these documents after receiving the Portal 2 email, while waiting for my eCoPR?

You are still temporary resident until you get your COPR . Everywhere you have to got ( out of country) you have to have valid visa to re enter Canada. If you receive ECOPR while you are outside Canada, your all visas become invalid and you have to apply for PRTD from that country to return back to Canada. Other option is if you have USA visa , you can return to Canada through ECOPR through land border.

The best options is to follow others timelines although not strict chronological processing. Contacting IRCC or GCMS notes will mot be able to give you an idea about processing times.
Yeah, I 100% agree with you. Most people follow the average timeline, though some cases clearly aren’t processed strictly FIFO. Looking at others’ timelines can give you a general idea of what actions to consider. But staring too closely at their processing times can pull people into a place where they start asking, “Why not me today? Are they leaving me behind?” I know this feeling all too well. Since we don’t really know which variables matter case by case, my advice for staying sane is to focus on gathering more detailed info. Like, if I know I’m in the regular security check stage, which usually takes the longest, I’d just take a step back and breathe.

It varies from case to case. Some get the BIL along with AOR, but I got AOR on 23rd Dec 2024 and got BIL on 6th Mar 2025. It has to be done within 30 days as per the BIL instruction letter.
