Hi everyone,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to maintain legal work status in Canada while my PR application is being processed. Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been through something similar.
Here's where I stand:
- Nominated under BC PNP IPG stream Non Express Entry
- PR application under Non express entry submitted December 2025, still waiting for AOR
- Nomination expires May 17, 2026
- PGWP expires June 16, 2026
- Nomination letter states "no restrictions on employment" and “no name of employer”
My goal is simple: avoid any gap in work authorization while waiting for PR to be finalized.
Questions:
1. BC PNP support letter: Has anyone received one from BC PNP? What does it look like? Does it confirm "no conditions on employment" or is it specifically a T13 work permit support letter?
2. T13 eligibility: Since my nomination has no employer restrictions, am I eligible for a T13? And if I apply before my work permit expires, can I continue working under maintained status while it processes?
3. BOWP eligibility: Am I eligible for a Bridging Open Work Permit given that I submitted my PR but haven't received AOR yet?
4. Maintained status: If I apply for a new work permit (T13 or BOWP) before my PGWP expires, will implied/maintained status keep me authorized to work during processing?
5. Nomination extension: Do I need to get nomination extension to apply for BOWP or T13? Is it mandatory to have a valid nomination while applying for T13 or BOWP?
Thanks so much, any recent experiences or guidance are really appreciated!
