Hi. My husban and I want to apply in Mexico, I currently live with him in Canada but I lost my status last year and I don't wanna have problems or be rejected and in the worst case be deported. I called the embassy in Mexico and they told me that it takes 12 months for the first stage of the process and another 8 for the second part, I read other comments and everyone seems to be going to trough the process a lot faster so I'm wondering Why I got that info. Could I stay in Canada with out status until I have to go back for and I terview? Would they now that I over stayed?

Thank you

I think if you take a flight via the US then they would not know as then you will have a arrival stamp at US first and then Mexico.
So you can just say that you were visiting the US and then came back and not Canada.

But if they investigate then they can surely find out.

In your case I think they are talking about applying inland since you have lost your status in Canada and this would restore it.

@ Gabitan,

My advise is to tell the truth, You have to fill out the forms including your background.
This is what the Immigration website says:

"Important information. It is a serious offence to give false or misleading information on these forms. The information you provide on your application is subject to verification."

If you apply inland the process is going to be so much longer than applying outland, the thing is that IF you apply inland you don't have to leave Canada but If you apply outland you will have to travel to Mexico to do your police record, otherwise you will need to prove that you have a valid visa to stay in Canada and the other thing is that maybe you can get caught in the airport and be deported.

Just tell the truth and If you're going the outland way I don't think you can stay any longer in Canada out of status.

I believe there is a form to fill out and then send to the embassy if you are applying inland for them to get the police clearance.

Quick question for everyone, If my common-law is with me in Canada while we apply, on the IMM0008 form do I put current address as the one in Canada and then residential address as his Mexican address? We want his application to go to the Mexico City.

Thanks all!

Use the Canadian address, you don't have to be in Mexico to apply outland.

mc1234 is right, The Canadian Embassy will take care of the request.

That's what I thought but the reason why I am confused is because technically you cannot live in Canada on a visitor visa status and in that questionnaire they ask for your current address and then your residential address and put in brackets (where you live).

Thanks for your help.. So, if I want it to go to Mexico City I am assuming all I have to do is put in Mexico City in the beginning of the form where they ask for the intended visa office, correct?

Thanks again!

Yes, Write Mexico City under "Visa Office requested..."

My Wife is here as a visitor too, we only completed the mailing address and left the residential address empty

Another question, we are trying to get our statutory declarations right now IN MEXICO from the family of my CL partner. For this, someone on another thread suggested getting it translated by someone already approved on the Canadian embassy list..can we then take it to a Canadian consular to get it certified or can we go to Notario already recommended on the Canadian embassy list aswell? Thanks!

We just received PPR (Passport request) ReginaC you are next, we have 15 days to send the passport.

So using the Mexican Embassy Process to get the "constancia" was a great idea it saved us a trip to Mexico City

Any advice about what courier service should we use?
