I agree with Islenio, I'm from Guanajuato as well and I tried to get the "constancia" before to send it with my application, I called the Canadian Embassy and they told me to wait for a request. If you see the requirements to get the constancia, the PGR asks for a letter of the Institution requesting the document.
I went to Mexico city last week and once I got into the PGR office the first thing the guy asked for was the letter from the Canadian embassy requesting the " constancia" .

Please let us know If we are wrong maybe you can save a lot of time to future applicants.

Ok I will. Waiting for AOR to see what it says.

Another issue: My common law tried paying the landing fee online using her mexican credit card. The payment did not go through twice but the credit card company said cic has charged the card twice. We do not have any receipt.

Anyone had this one before? Should be call cic?

Hi there, my daughter has sponsored her husband to come to Canada from Mexico. They do have an immigration lawyer that handled the application for them. The website for CIC states that they received the package on Sept 12, 2011 and started processing. On Nov 16th we were notified from the lawyer, as well on the CIC site, that she was approved to sponsor him. We are now waiting for the Permanent Residence to be approved from the Mexico City office. It states that the Application was Received Sept 13th for PR. The lawyer initially told us 6 months start to finish once it was filed. On the CIC site it says from Mexico City 14 months. I don't know if I should get my hopes up that they will be coming home soon to Canada, or it will be the latter. She has since gone down to Cancun to be with him until the approval comes through. Can anyone fill me in on their recent wait times from Mexico to Canada. His medical etc was all done previous and submitted, the only thing remaining is the crim check from the police when he is asked to provide it.
Thanks so much,we just want them home!!!

Applied from Outside of Canada....

Hello there. My common-law is also from Cancun, we are actually here right now getting some paperwork before we submit his PR (he has a multiple entry visitor visa to Canada) Regarding what their lawyer told them, yes as long as they paid their right of landing fee initially and the case is nothing too complicated (requires additional security checks, etc) then it should be within that time frame, but you never know. People on this thread always post their time line, most are within 6-8 months from what I recall. All the best to them and your family!

Islenio is right. you will not be able to apply for the "constancia" unless it has been requested. It is a pretty important police check and they don't do it for just anyone that walks in the door. You will need the request form from the Canadian embassy that you will get when they send you the AOR. you will take that letter into the PGR office (with the other information they require) and then they will start the police check. You can't get the constancia without it. The only police check that you do before you apply is the state police check.

I just left the constancia this morning at the embassy in Mexico city. I was attended by a really nice girl who told me to email them in about 2 weeks if I haven't received any news by that time. Fingers crossed, I hope to get PPR soon!!!!

ReginaC wrote that someone at the embassy told her to email them in 2 weeks if she had got no knews. Why do not you email them to see what is going on with yours? you sent your constancia a month ago.

I just did, but based on the timelines of the people that applied last year it takes around a month to get the passport request and it was december after all (Christmas, New Year, etc)

let's see...............

Hi Everyone,
Hoping you can help!
I'm just about to start the application process for Common Law partnership. I live in Mexico so we are applying outland. I'm curious as to if I need a co-signer. I can't seem to find any info regarding this in the maze that is the Immigration Website. Can you point me in the right direction?
I clear about $950 per month Canadian working part time in Mexico, is this going to be sufficient to sponsor??

Thanks for your help!

Has anyone tried calling the Mexico city office.
what is the number to call?
The number on their website doesnot seem to work.
