I got to chat briefly with the current minister of immigration/citizenship during an event last week. I was told the two top priority for the CIC these days are: 1- Family reunification/spousal apps, 2- Syrian refugees. The rest of us rubes have to wait for 10-12 months before anything can be done.

I guess that given the amount of Syrian refugees being processed, according to Justin Trudeau's pledge, this shouldn't take much time.

Gratz apgd and Rayan14 on test invites!

So our test in 7th June less than 2 weeks away now - studying going at a steady progress hope we are ready in time.

Still neither mine nor my wife's ECAS has been updated - it's over a month since CIC sent the test invite letters yet ECAS still just says in process.

IIRC the ECAS is a separate system not linked directly to the CIC live data. I think I concluded from our residency application that basically ECAS updates are probably handed off to a separate department for a clerk to process, hence why often a bunch of ECAS updates seem to happen all at once. Guessing the clerk mislaid our test invite ECAS updates.

Hopefully it'll leap frog to Decision Made after the test - otherwise we'll have to just wait until we receive oath letters in the mail. Really hoping for Oath Ceremony before end of September so we don't have to renew PR cards.

Yes. Their ECAS is useless and a waste of time/money. However I wonder how long do people have to wait to get their oaths invites from Scarborough processing center?

Just went in to see if any changes in ECAS. And No, still in process. Maybe, as you mention Capuccino, after the test, we'll see a DM. As for the time frame to get Oath invite, according to the online google spread sheet, it appears to be averaging between 30 to 50 days.

I think Vangel said after he went for the test in Vancouver the CIC officer told him 2 to 4 months for oath invite - but looking at the spreadsheet it does seem to look faster than that.

I'd say 1 to 2 month is a reasonable timeline to guess.

Do you mean 30-50 days for those being processed by Scarborough office?

Well, in the spreadsheet it has people from Aurora with 34 & 39 days; Mississauga 12 days; Toronto 20, 21, 34 & 61 days; Windsor 21 days; Richmond Hill 61 days.
So with those amount of days is where I have come up with that range of between 30-50 days. I didn't see anyone from Scarborough though.

Maybe you're right. I have no hope or trust in the system though. This is my second attempt at acquiring the Cdn citizenship in 4 years. Last time they made me wait two years after my test to tell me they needed additional documents or such. We'll see.

Hi all,

Today, I received my test invitation ;D ;D... The letter is dated 25th May and the test date is 20th June. This is about 3 weeks from invitation to test. I will start preparing for the test right away ..

I'm really happy and hope things will go smoothly throughout the preparation, the exam and the interview .. Especially during the interview .. I would like very much appreciate if other people (who are done or about to do their test) share their experience in the interview (what I should expect, ... etc.)

I hope that everyone else waiting for the test gets his/her test invitation soon ...

Minutes ago, I received a call from the CIC officer in charge of my citizenship test interview. We had a great chat. He informed of the things I need to do to prepare for the test and subsequent actions. Has any one else received these kinds of calls too?

Something unusual- never heard of. Could be the officer in charge was just trying to interview you in a way asking info - not sure since you received the call and it was a great chat according to you. Also You mentioned in your early post that this is your second application after withdrawing. May be the officer wanted to be more sure if there were any concerns after the first application withdrawal.

So the phone call basically was about what I can expect in the interview. He wanted to make sure I will bring a specific document to the meeting/interview session. He was cordial and professional. I thanked him for calling me. That's all.

Interesting - we've had no communication other than the test invite letter by mail (our ECAS hasn't even updated to say they sent the letter back in April).

Which is your processing office?
