Hi all,

Figured I'd start a Feb 2016 applicants thread since I couldn't see one. We sent our application at the weekend and FedEx expected delivery date is 4th Feb 2016. Vancouver will be our local CIC office.

Still seems a little backwards to me - having to courier our application from Vancouver all the way over to Nova Scotia, so they can check everything is there and then send it all the way back to Vancouver for processing. Would save a lot of time if the local visa offices could just do everything, then we could just hop on a Skytrain and hand-delivery our application to Vancouver CIC.

Ah well, it is what it is! :)

Hello, just submitted our family (4) application on Jan 28. Tracking says it already got delivered (Feb 1). Though I have a concern. My youngest is 8 and the ID's ive sent with pic is the PR card and the passport. I also included the health card even it has no pic.

Photocopied docs for the kids:
-Record of Landing (IMM 1000)
-Birth Certificate
-PR card
-Passport (Biographical page / new and expired)
-Health card (1 with pic / other has no pic)
-language proof - N/A - under 12

Should this be a concern?

Cheers...

We you need 2 pieces of personal ID. I think it is ok for PR card to also be used for personal ID (as well as being a requirement anyway) because a friend from work's husband used PR card - however, they explicitly included 2 copies. Once in the place in the checklist where PR card is needed, and again later in the checklist for the personal identification - with post-it notes attached to clearly show which was for which.

I used driver's license and birth certificate for personal IDs.

I am 90% sure it will be ok - but I think CIC will contact you if they require an extra piece of ID for the kids.

Best of luck,
Cappuccino

Don't mind which thread we use - but it's probably easier to just have one that two! :)

Rayan, it depends on your local office (city where you live), but in general it shouldn't last longer than 8 months.. Good luck.

This is my second attempt. I voluntarily withdrew my first app due to inability to provide certain documents. My city is Toronto.
Any thoughts?

What's the average wait time for new applicants?

Thanks
CIC are currently quoting an AVERAGE time of 5 months from received date to oath ceremony. It may be faster than that in many cases. You may wish to keep checking the following spreadsheet where people are sharing their timeline information :-

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HO2bMpPOII6R0N7q3oULrAgA27LJYaz3l9fMWcGaOms/edit?pref=2&pli=1#gid=0

One applicant got an oath ceremony only 3.5 months after application received. Another got a test date only 2 months after application received.
As you can see from the spreadsheet, recently people are going "In Process" only 11 to 20 ish days after application received.

Wow - I just saw one applicant has an application received date of 8th January and has a test date of 25th February! That's really moving fast!

The removal of a Citizenship Judge from the process has really sped up processing times. I believe CIC predict that by March (next month) there will be ZERO backlog at all local CIC offices.

I think after that happens we'll see the average application received to oath ceremony to be around 3 to 4 months.

Does the Adult Grant of Citizenship payment of $630 include the Citizenship Certificate? Was thinking of applying for a canadian passport so I included Citizenship Certificate - Processing fee ($75).
Or did I overpay?

I believe the $630 includes the citizenship certificate fee (the $75 I think is only for those who are already citizens who require a new certificate).

At the oath ceremony you hand in your PR card and get the citizenship certificate in return, from which you can then apply for a Canadian passport.

Wayne.
