We're not at the passport stage yet, but from reading through posts, and from other websites, bogota seems to be slow at getting the passports back with the visas in them. don't know why, as bogota makes passport requests only if they're going to issue the PR visa!

hey ccunnington just wanted to let you know that nothing has changed on our application... i'm wondering if we should even try to contact the embassy??? I know that you also sent your application very close to ours so hopefully we'll hear something soon!
Also, I was reading some of your older posts and was wondering if you already sent the police check? we haven't sent my wife's yet so I was wondering if we should wait until the embassy gets in contact with us or send it right away? let me know pls... good luck

You can always try calling, however if you're less than the 16 months processing time shown on the website, they'll likely just give you the generic answer, that your app is within standard processing time, call back after 16 months.

We haven't done our police check yet, as we're waiting to hear form the embassy, but if we don't hear anything from them in the next 2 weeks, we'll go ahead and get it done on our own.

p.angie,

I've been waiting for my wife's passport, we sent it Aug 15, 2012. I think there are others who sent before me and still waiting.
What's your status on eCas?

sridoy

Hey sridoy,

I can't reply to your pm for some reason... But my husband sent in his passport on September 4th but he wasn't requested a police check or another medical (first one he did was June 2011). We haven't received any information at all since then and the eCas shows as "application received" still -_____- ... This seems this is going to take a while still. But I read before that they can actually extend your medicals if they're going to issue the visa within 3 weeks, something like that?

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Let's hope we all get some news this week!

Yes good luck everyone. We are now at 100 days since we sent the passport. It's not all bad though - I booked my flight to Colombia from Vancouver for Xmas at the weekend :)

Hey guys, I updated about a month ago, telling you all that my husband sent in his passport on September 4th... it has now been more than a month and we have heard NOTHING. This is so irritating! Just when I thought it was just about over.... a month and half goes by and we have heard nothing. Nothing else to do but wait thought. Anyone else send their passport in recently?

don't worry, we sent our passport at the end of july and still no contact for us....you'll likely be waiting longer, keep patient! and come on bogota!! lets get some approvals here!!!

we sent our passport end of august, and although our ecas status has been changed to "decision made" we still have not received any contact from the embassy. Has anybody else had their status changed since sending in their passport?

esims,

Out status changed from "Application Received" to "In process". But today we got an email saying my wife needs to do the medicals again:( She had done her original medical exams last year in October.

So after more than 2 months of PPR, we got an email today asking for medicals. My wife had done her original medical exams in Oct 2011. The status on eCas says "Medical results have been received.", I do not understand why they would need the medicals again. This is insane, I have to shell out another $500, and God knows how long its going to take now. Really frustrated over all this >:( >:(

I was going to go on a big rant about how much I hate this process as well, but I'll stick to the facts :)

This happened to my friend last year as well. They asked for his wife's passport, then a couple of months later they asked for the medicals again, as it was over a year since the medicals were last done, and they had expired. On the positive side, they received the visa one month after they sent in the second set of medicals.

I think the same thing is going to happen to us as my wife had her medicals done in November 2011.

I don't understand why they won't extend your medicals? Back in January or whenever it was, they made changes so that if you were near the end of the process, meaning passport already requested, or just waiting for the visa, that they could extend/renew medicals for 3 months so that you wouldn't have to redo them....typical gov't!

It's Colombia. Maybe the new rules are being adopted by some and not by others at the embassy. The country is a friggin joke when it comes to getting anything done. The only way things get done quickly in this country is if you know someone, and that someone is willing to accept a little gift.

I'd email them asking why the medicals are not being extended in accordance with the new rules. Ccunnington, do you have a link that specifies the new rules? Could use that in the email. You'll probably get the new medicals done quicker than you'll get a response though.

Yes a link would help. I can then email them. My wife's getting her medicals done on Wed anyway.
