I was browsing through some of the other threads. For some countries they request the passport very early on in the process.

I think I paid the landing fees at the time of the initial application.

When we got the passport request we thought the visa was going to be processed soon. We've now given up that hope and expectations are "back to normal", with the hope of receiving the visa sometime early next year and looking forward to yet another Colombia visit in December. This will be trip number 10 to Colombia for me! I visited the country a few times before I met my wife though.

I don't think Bogota is one of those that requests the passport early in the process. VO's that do that usually request the passports within the first few weeks, not after 3-4 months. The way I interpret things i've read in here and other sites, if Bogota asks for the passport, it's because you're close to the end of the process...just takes them a while to get it back to you with the visa in it.

Totally agree with ccunnington, that's what my lawyer told me as well.

Hope it's true, it would be nice if my husband could be here by christmas, so that my 1 year old son can have his family together for the holidays..... here's hoping!!!! Bogota has had our passport for 5 weeks now, if the wait time for past cases is any indication of when to expect the passport back, then I am hoping that christmas in canada could be a real possibility. Best of luck to you all also!

I just got this email reply from bogota, in response to my email asking them about the status of my wife's passport:

Good day,
The passports were received by Bogota's office and are in your application.

Sincerely, Salutations distinguées, Sinceramente,

Not helpful really:(

This morning I checked eCas as i do daily. My husbands status has now changed to "decision made" however, when I click on it, it says the office will be in contact with the applicant regarding the decision of his application. We have both checked our emails, and have nothing! I hope this is a good thing, and that we will have my husband in the country soon!!!!!! So nervous now!

That's really great esims2003. I think your passport is on the way now:)

I just checked ecas and now it says

We received your application for permanent residence on December 28, 2011.

We started processing your application on October 9, 2012.

Medical results have been received.

That's good news! I'm really hoping we get an AOR or something next week! Bogota has had our app for almost 4 months now!

Anyone else have the same application number as their spouse? I thought we were meant to have two different file numbers, but after checking all documents and communications the embassy are using the same file number for both of us.

We got 1 file number.

Thanks :) I was a little worried there for a sec. We can only log on to ECAS with my name and details, not those of my wife.

Looks like our application start and processing times are very similar. Let's hope we both get the visa at a similar time as well.

That's really strange. I can only log on with my wife's details and not mine.

I just tried logging into eCas using my ClientID and my details, and it worked. So when I am using my wife's details to log in I have to enter the Application File# ( the one starting with F000....).

Thats the way it works for us too. I log in with the UCI number and my info, and my wife has to use the file number that starts with FXXXXX...with her info

Ok good to know. We tried all those different combinations and we can still only log in with my details. We sent an email to see why we can't log in with my wife's details.
