I'm looking into bringing my parents to Canada on a Super Visa. They have Somali passports so the process is a bit different, I heard Canada doesn't accept the Somali passport directly.
Has anyone here gone through this successfully? Or know someone whose parents came to Canada this way?
A few things I'm specifically trying to find out:
- Has it been done with the Super Visa specifically (not just a regular visitor visa)?
- Which visa office processed it — Nairobi? Abu Dhabi?
- How long did security checks take?
- Any tips on what documents helped the most?
Also, I read that Canada just made it easier as of March 2026. You can now use your income from either of the last 2 tax years (not just the most recent), and your parents' own income can count toward the financial requirement too.
