We’re working at full capacity to process applications.

You may experience delays because we have a backlog of applications due to COVID-19.

We’re currently finalizing most applications we received between
May 10 and 16, 2020 ?
If your application is complex, it may take us longer to process it.

My application had a ghost update yesterday. Called IRCC this morning and the agent said, all passed.
She said, i need to wait for the application to be updated and they will issue COPR.

@legalfalcon - Will this remain same or is there any possibilities for them to re-evaluate the status again?

AOR - Aug 7, VO - Ottawa and CEC Inland + 2 dependents.

My application also had a ghost update yesterday, so I just called IRCC,
The agent confirmed that Eligibility and Criminality have passed, but security hasn't been initiated yet.
@legalfalcon could this be because of the reason that I had given my biometrics just recently and they are required to process my security checks?

The biometrics are used to do your info sharing and criminality. See https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/mandate/corporate-initiatives/biometrics/process-steps-2018.html

The security only starts after IRCC sends a request to the National Security Screening Division (NSSD) and screening partners. For many applicants no request has been sent. If your application has been put on hold, then a security screening may not have been initiated.

Also not all applications go though comprehensive security screening. Inland applications only have record check. To read on security screening, record check and comprehensive check, see https://bit.ly/3apWglN

This might be kind of surprising, but if biometrics are used to do criminality checks, I just gave the biometrics on 26th Feb and today my criminality was passed according to the agent!

That is quite the speed :p

How long does security screening take for outland applicants? This question might sound silly, but if I have never travelled internationally, how long can I expect the security screening to last(and would it be any faster compared to others who have travelled internationally)?

As per the Security screening Manual, the average processing time for SS is 120 days. See the manual at https://bit.ly/3apWglN

There are multiple factors that go into security screening, and travel may be one of them. Since the factors and details of SS is not disclosed, it is subject to speculation. That is publicly available is in the link shared.
