So this is a priority but the hundred thousands of us waiting in the dark since March for the citizenship applications to be processed and for tests to be resumed are not?
What kind of logic is this?!

Apparently, this makes it very clear that the only priority for IRCC is MONEY!

There was live interview moments ago on cbc. They said they will increase immigration in 2021 to componsate 2020 shortage. I didn’t see citizenships tests questions, hopefully its recorded somewhere.

i see good when you search ... canada will increase immigration numbers , its highest in history. Its actually a positive news. I dont know why people take it negatively !!!

Exactly, imagine if they said that before we came here? We were all newcomers once and therefore know firsthand how important they are for the country. I think attacking this in order to highlight the citizenship test delay might not be the right approach.

there is an increase of PR intake , as results, increase of citizenship intake, this might mean some delays to us ( specially if all IRCC emplyee stop working on citizenship applications and re-assign them to PR applications) , but to be honest, we need path and clarity on what will happen to our applications , we cant wait forever and loose hope/opportunities .

we need to make sure with the upcoming event that we get clear plan and path to our files that is in queue , it has been delayed because of the pandemic and we need clear path.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
One of the reasons why being a Canadian citizen is much better than just being happy to be pr.
life is so unpredictable and anything can happen. This man did not wake up in the morning that day and thought, I am going to be responsible for the death of sixteen innocent people and injure 13 more. If you really want to make Canada your home ( live, raise your kids, and die here ) get your citizenship as soon as possible, life is unpredictable.

Life is unpredictable, but the accident was his fault. This is a reminder that rules, especially traffic rules exist for a reason. He decided to play a Russian roulette game with breaking the rules and got his reward. I have no compassion for him if he is deported.

First, this is good news for us as it shows the government is acknowledging that immigrants play an important part in Canada and they are committed to bringing more people into the country. It counters against some unfounded narratives that they are xenophobic and will try and block immigration.

Second, of course they consider the economical impact of immigration before opening their borders. That’s what a responsible government does when they care about their citizens.

What no it shouldn't affect anyone in our cohort - those PRs are more than 3 years away from even applying.

Well based on the chain of events, they love immigrants so much that they wanna label them as immigrants forever instead of making them citizens. The kind of toxic love...

You have zero proof of that. We are are in a world wide pandemic, Canada is trying to be cautious as opening fast has now resulted in surges. So, they are trying to make sure the most needed immigrants are first in line. People who are here on asylum need citizenship more than the average PR person. Doctors or other medical personal also get moved to the front of the line.

If that's what you really think, then I don't think there is point in arguing with you.
The priority in the middle of a pandemic should be the people who are already in the country, it should never be about bringing more people into the country. Especially at a time where even worldwide travel is closed. Since you spoke about most needed immigrants, which are obviously doctors, just for your information even if a person has been a doctor for 100 years in other countries they still can't work as doctors in Canada and their education is not recognized or used to benefit the country. I have a friend whose dad used to be the best heart surgeon in his country for 20 years, you know what he is doing now? Of course you don't... he is writting people vitamins prescriptions. While we all know the shortage of physicians this country has. So they are not even using the most important advantage of immigration. Oh my friend you have no idea what you are talking about so I suggest you go enjoy your weekend and not bother about this kind of issues.

With all due respect, at this point you are starting to sound like those “Canada first” bigots who are against immigration and refuse to acknowledge the importance of newcomers which is not a good look being an immigrant yourself

Hi! Could someone advise. Do I need to renew my home country passport as it expired this month while awaiting my Canadian citizenship as I have already received my AOR?

Can you please explain to me how I can be against immigration when I am an immigrant myself lol sorry but thay sounds ridiculous. Does that mean I am against myself??
You need to go back and read again what I said. I said immigrants are not utilized to their full potential. Engineers can't work as engineers and doctors can't work as doctors so no one can come here and say that they are increasing the numbet of immigrants in the middle of a pandemic because they need more talents or more doctors because the only true reason is that they need MONEY! And since us (people who have applied to citizenship) can't pay anymore money than what we are already paying, that makes us not a priority!
