I see.. so there is no way I can request for reconsider/ appeal :(
Reconsiderations are very rarely considered for TRVs and are only done based on what you submitted. You cannot ask for reconsideration and shorten the trip - or add additional evidence. I don't see reconsideration succeeding since the trip you asked for was too long and IRCC likely sees this as demonstrating a lack of ties to their home country. Having said that, if you want to submit a case specific inquiry and try, you can certainly do that. Given global events, it might be several months before you have an answer.

You can appeal but only to the Federal Court. This will take many months and cost you thousands of dollars (you will need to hire a lawyer). I'm not sure on what basis you would be appealing. I think IRCC has strong grounds to say the application was correctly refused based on the request for a six month visit.

Your best option is to reapply from scratch and put together a stronger application.

It's not an email. You need to submit a case specific inquiry.

oh ok. through CiC? Looks like it's a long process..
Yes it usually takes a while and could take longer. People rarely ask for reconsideration unless they feel like the VO missed a critical piece of information included in their application.

what I was thinking is - anyway I can not reapply right now - it's a total lock down.
So if I could put this request on a web form, or to an email address in the meantime, it might have helped ( I think) That is why I was asking for alternatives. thanks a lot for your help!

I am not sure what you are asking to be reconsidered. There doesn’t seem to be anything that was misinterpreted in your application. You should also consider a supervisa.

we just want to say the 6 month ticket was an open ticket, and because of certain commitments they can't be away for more than a maximum of 4 weeks. We thought the documents provided were good enough, that's why we didn't mention all this in the application. I wish we did. at the time of application the corona virus situation was getting worse, so we were not able to fix a departure date as such.

What did you say in the actual application? How long a trip did your parents request? Did you say four weeks?

we entered the same dates as in the ticket :( honestly, since it was less than 6 months ( within that) we thought it wouldn't be a problem. what a mistake!

OK - well in that case you really can't go back now and tell IRCC the longest they can be away is four weeks. That doesn't make any sense. Both the ticket and the responses in the application very clearly indicate they wanted a six month visit. You can't change the answer now. That's not how it works.

You need to reapply from scratch.
