When count LICO & family member, follow this simple rule:

The year your family member increase (marriage, birth) or decrease (divorce, death), you have to use that number for that year only (and subsequent yr) as a count.
This is really confusing.
While family member defines as you, your spouse/commo-law, dependent child
family size defines as family members+sponsored family members.
And I realized that accompanying family members have not mentioned to be counted on website.
I have tried to ask very clear questions but once again CIC just copied answer and repeated. Whenever I got this. I will post it, i hope it will help further applicants. Thanks

If CIC applies this for years to count back it would be very complicated. Previous years, a person WAS dependant (under 22, not married,..), do we count who was dependant for previous years?? How about a sponsor or principal applicant divorced in 2018?? Do they count ex-spouse or partner in 2016,2017?? I got confused when they say count deceased family members which does not go with examples or explanation. I guess CIC just changed the law and has not decided about complicated cases. Probably next year they will indicate clearly explanation and examples. Guide says count family members SPONSOR will financially responsible for. How does a sponsor responsible for deceased family member??
The main issue, that there is no any change in guide or legislation, the only change is IRCC interpretation related to the same issue. Last year they refused a lot of cases for added family members at later stage, because they considered that family size should be calculated on the date of filing the application (according to Guide), this year according to IRCC examples IRCC will approve these cases. And in fact we will have that under the same rules applicants are treated differently. I really don't know how it will be this year, everything depends on case officer. You can try to point the issue and fill a comment on IRCC website, and IRCC will review it, as it happened with income.

Not true. The reminder email is sent to all sponsors over a span of a few days in the same order the invitations were sent out.
Maybe, I am not insisting, I wrote it seems. Did you get reminder, (I noticed your application was received on April 30)?

I hope next year they will add more instructions, absolutely unfair if CIC counted babies were not born previous years as rules 2018. ( not this year)

Anyone got ECAS update today ?

Hey all - I received my invitation letter on Apr 24 and mailed out my package on May 14th, Canada Post tracking tells me it was delivered on May 16th. Received the email reminder this AM like many of you had. I now am concerned over one supporting document which I'm worried if by the time an officer opens the package and deems this supporting document to be incomplete and decides to return the package, it will be long after the deadline and therefore potentially making me ineligible to resend my application this year. Basically I have not gotten the mentioned supporting document notarized (certified) but simply translated myself. And after reading the reminder this morning and gone through what I have sent, I realized on the checklist it says all documents not in English or French need to be translated and notarized (certified) with a copy of the original version.

I have called CIC, the agent cant seem to find an application number yet. so she suggests trying sending webforms or resubmit a complete package with the right document this time.

There're only 10 days left till the deadline, should I take the risk and wait out for the AOR? or resubmit the whole application now?

For deceased family members you would have to count them the years they were still alive or the year they were deceased. And then not count them for the years after they had passed away.

makes logical sense to me. A deceased person should not count as a family member after they have passed on.

Let me clear one thing here as per to my brother who works for IRCC
1. For divorce cases for example if u were divorced in 2017 and got the final divorce judgement that year you will not count your ex for 2017 but you will count your ex for 2016 but even in above case he said there still is an exception for example soome couples dnt divorce and are just legally seperated in that case you can leave to count the seperated member from
family size with condition that legal seperation is registered with court or is atleast documented in the courts record so if asked by IRCc you can prove it,
in case of deceased members if member passed away after you signed and sent the application they will count im the family size but if the member passed before you signed the sponsorship agreement then u can exclude the deceased member from family count

Only if they are dependent, then you have to count them.

Hello, I'm applying for Parent's Sponsorship. One of the requirements is the Photo of parents. How do I include their photos if they are in the Philippines? I am the one submitting the documents here in Canada. How am I suppose to include their photo if they are still in the Philippines? Thanks for your help.
Email the photo instruction to your parents tell your parents to go to a photographer’s studio and bring the instruction. They MUST follow the instruction or else it will just go to waste. Then after they got their photos send it to you ASAP via DHL or UPS ASAP! That’s how you can get those photos

Application delivered 15 days back but not even xfn till now. Is this concerning? Should a new package be sent right away? Trying to avoid the situation where CIC tells us we dont have ure package, after june28 even though it was delivered way before deadline!!

No need to worry....

But you are liberty, if you wish to send another package, with same copy of payment...
