It is the note that showing which part of your application has been done and which one is not . You can find information in following thread

https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/how-to-order-gcms-notes-step-by-step-process.513893/

Thanks and good luck with yours. I know if I send one it will get stuck there just like my application because they are so busy with taking vacation and sleeping on the job all the time that they don't have time to do their job. After the new government changed the rule to 3/5, they also recruited enough resources, so being busy is not a valid excuse especially when many cases are going over the 12 months period. It is unacceptable to see so many cases are waiting for a test invite or oath for 14, 16, or 19 months. They do not even care enough to expedite when people call them and ask them to at least explain the reason for the major delay. Their solution is easy, they just say the same BS like your case is an unusual case or it’s a case by case scenario. They assume applicants don’t know better and have not worked in government or other organizations to know that such BS simply means someone is not doing their job, and wasting taxpayers’ money.

I agree with you. After exhausting all options (Calling them every other week, MP and emailing directly to Minister of Immigration), I ended up applying to my PR extension which expired a month ago. I have requested for the Urgent processing as my mom is sick back home. I have attached the proof of my ticket and mom's Hospital report. So let's see if they even have a Humanity left in them (What a fair country we live in........?)

So my question is if you have two cases open at the same time (PR Extension & Citizenship) do they both appeared on ECAS?

Thanks, everyone.

Sorry to hear that about your mom. Based on what I have seen from some of these agents they really don't care about applicants problems and they don’t feel ashamed if your application’s gone over by many months, but I really hope your agent wakes up soon and starts working on your case right away.

I understand your frustration. The main reason for such delay is getting the background checks and clearences that take a lot longer for some nationalities, due to current circumstances. This information is mostly not included in the notes and the IRCC does not say so much about it due to their policies. Therefore, it creates confusion for some citizenship applicants whose case are still in process after 12 months.
They told me that my case is only waiting for clearence (14 months) and I should wait till it is done. So, don’t be nervous about it. They are doing their job in a timely manner. It is just a more lengthy process.

Well, my clearance checks were all done more than 6 months ago and there is no way for them to use that excuse/BS on me, yet I still haven’t got any test invite after 14 months

I requested GCMS Note 63 days ago and I didn't get response yet. I send the email and they reply to that me we received your request unfortunately we are busy right now and we can't follow the 30 days time limit .
Thanks for the info. Sounds like I just need to be patient and let them be late as they want on everything.
I suppose if I did ask, I'll just get a "my dog at your homework" response.

I get it, but details on clearence in not revealed in the notes. So you can’t make a robust conclusion.

It was stated by the IRCC agent and confirmed by my MP’s office that my clearance was done back in June , not from the note

You are right about the background check. For some of country it is really timing. But this slow process it is not exactly because of that my background check has been done 4 months a go and I talk to them several times they always saying residency and prohibition it is not done. I don't know at least why residency it is not done after more than 16 months . I was living here more than 6 years and only 20 days out of country . I always working and study here so it is easy to find out and there is no need to spend 16 month time to check my residency.

If “not passed” why wouldnt they just decline the application? What are they waiting for? The right time to tell me it’s declined? That’s the most ridiculous thing on this thread lol .... If done means ‘not passed’ then they must be moron to have found anything wrong about my background after 8 months - I never even had a parking ticket and came from nowhere near any of those countries with issues

By now you should already know ... it doesn’t matter you’ve been here more than 6 years and paid tax and only out of the country for 0 day ... if your case landed in the slow lane you are stuck for no reason - haven’t you seen people who just had a few days over 1095 and/or with assault charges pending or some peace bond ... have all finished their oath ?

Give it some thought, and do not take it personally. They probably have their own way of doing things. It’s clear that certain nationalities are taking longer to be processed and it is understandable.

Of course they do , also known as ‘illogical and disorganized ‘ - and that’s not my comment, it was said by my MPs office in one of the emails they sent me

Mehran, I recently heard clearence (which is totally different than background check) is taking a lot longer for certain nationals such as Iranians and could add up another year to the average processing time. I don’t want to spread rumers or give false information on this threat, but if that is the case, we need to be more patient. Also, I understand some cases might delay because residency etc. has not been completed. 16 months is a long time to process an application and doesn’t make sense that your case is only delaying for residency etc. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
