Pre-Arrival Services Email Timeline

Tomorrow (February 23) it will be 4 weeks since we got Pre-Arrival services email.
Does anybody know what is the maximum amount of time between Pre-Arrival and PPR?

Hopefully we get PPR soon...
But our GC Key STILL says they are reviewing my husbands eligibility, and the BG has not started yet. HMM

Hi @CarleyDT I’m im a similar situation. No updates on my husbands eligibility.... I have been waiting since Jan 9th after getting the pre arrival letter - so about 6-7 weeks for us... I remember reading 3 months might be the maximum... but with the IRCC its impossible to make a solid claim on any time line

I completely understand you. I wish there was some movement! Many people got their PPR 3-10 days after the letter. Ours is likely stuck in background check.

Well here is some interesting notes, in another thread I saw that someone posted a letter they recieved when their application was forwarded to the Hong Kong VO. In the letter it mentions that when you are invited to use the pre arrival services it means that you have been approved for PR. Take a read, interesting and maybe insightful

Planning Ahead

If your application for permanent residence is approved, you will be encouraged to use free pre-aarrival services funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Several online and in-person services will be available to you, your spouse and your dependents once your application is approved. These services can help you find out more about living and working in Canada. They can also help you take steps to get your education, work experience, and professional licences/certificates recognized in Canada, and access other free settlement services once you have arrived in Canada.


To learn more about these free pre-arrival services that you will be able to access before you leave, please visit the IRCC website(canada.ca/pre-arrival-services). Please note that in order to access these services, you must demonstrate to the service provider that you have been successful in your permanent resident application. Therefore, you should wait until you receive a positive eligibility decision or a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) prior to requesting these services.

Yes @wish2018 it is a standard VO transfer letter. Mine did not contain that line about the pre arrival services. What I was trying to highlight was to inform others that the IRCC considers a pre arrival invitation as a “positive eligibility decision” - its good news and its even better to see it in formal writing

Hello, newbie here. We are also waiting for our PPR. Pinas din ako so just assuming na Manila VO din. Did you email to ask which office is processing your application? Thanks

My husband (the principal applicant) emailed the visa office on Monday just to ask if there was any movement in his application for permanent residency. No answer yet.

We are with Manila Visa office since my husband is Pinoy

I may have more luck emailing them myself. Since i had emailed them in December to update my address and in their response they stated the application was already in queue to be reviewed by the officer. But that was 2 months ago.

Hi @CarleyDT you will get your PPR soon. The MVO seems to send them out in batches, I wouldnt be surprised if you get a response by next week. Im crossing my fingers for you! Please keep us posted

You will most like receive yours first, our AOR was in September. I'd have emailed them but I saw in the IRCC website that they might not reply if your application has not passed the normal processing time shown and it hasn't been 6 months since our AOR.

Has the PA travelled a lot? My husband travelled quite a bit (like 6-7 countries) but never lived anywhere longer than 6 months - so I'm wondering if our background check will take longer due to that... It's been 6-7 weeks since getting the letter... You will likely get your PPR before us
