Hi,



I am wondering if I need to translate the stamps on my passport as I have stamps not in English or French.



I know that is was a requirement before, but I am not sure if this has been changed recently

What are you talking about? The application ask for the biographic page of your passport ONLY! That is the page with your photo and personal information. Obviously if your home country is not english speaking, it won't be in english, but that is fine. That is all you should send. If you have visited a million countries and have a million stamps in your passport, that's all irrelevant. As have been stated many times, you should not be sending stuff that is not on checklist.

I have never seen a passport that does not have at least the main information also in English or in French. The passport should be understandable at a glance by border officers around the world, that's kind of the point of a passport! So I'd say no passport needs translation for the biographic pages.

I have never seen a passport that does not have at least the main information also in English or in French. The passport should be understandable at a glance by border officers around the world, that's kind of the point of a passport! So I'd say no passport needs translation for the biographic pages.

I agree with you. Also, stamps in passport means very little these days. Immigration authorities will not be flipping all the pages and scrutinizing all the various stamps you get as you travel. They have other more efficient ways to determine your travels. So I don't know why people are worried about getting stamps translated

The place from where the application goes matters the speed of the process

What about being in different places...that should be a separate column and entry should be made for each of the place we resided ?
This is the case when a person being a home maker what to be entered in Q.11.
I am confused.....

Well..at the interview after the test, no matter how long it takes, the officer goes through EACH stamp to make sure the arrival and departure dates are as we have stated in the forms. that's where the translations come into the picture if it's not clear from looking at the stamp 'where' 'when' we left or entered Canada. And again..I'm not making this up- I have been through the interview myself and I also know of people who had to get their stamps translated since it wasn't clear to the officer.

I don't think there's anything to worry about though. If the officer needs something translated and you didn't get the translations, they do let us know and give us time to submit anything after. There wouldn't be 'Passport stamps translation' services available if people didn't need them.

My sister and her husband got their citizenship last year, and they did not have that experience, and her husband travels a lot.
I have travel to countries that do not stamp in your passport, like Israel and Cuba, so this is why I know stamps in passport doesn't carry any weight now. There is no indication in my passport that I visited these 2 countries. Actually, I just return to Canada 2 weeks ago, and all the agent at the airport in Saskatoon do, was scan my PR card, and welcomed me back to Canada, he did not stamp in my passport, some agent stamp, some don't.

Applied on October 11th and got AOR on November 2nd.

Agreed! And as I said..'some' people have those problems, NOT everyone. My friend in Saskatoon who just about a month ago also gave his test and interview traveled a lot and since not all the stamps were on the passport the officer got a bit confused or something. She told him that she'll let him know if everything checks out later. He didn't want to take any chances so he went back the same day with printouts of all his travel tickets which they accepted. 2 weeks later, he had his oath date! It's never a bad idea to go more prepared than less I guess..

Anyway, I just wanted to share my opinion and experience from having read each and every post since I applied in May.. Just trying to help.. Don't kill the messenger.. Haha! Good Luck guys!
