2025 PR Application Timeline (Protected Person)

After IRCC receives PR application, it assigns a number to that application.
The file number starts with “XG”. This is considered a temporary application number. It confirms that IRCC has received the package and have created a file in the system.
After eligibility review and when processing formally begins, IRCC assigns a permanent application number. This number usually starts with “G” (without the X).
The applicant can use this number for all future correspondence regarding the PR application.
That doesn’t make a lot of sense especially since others have reported that IRCC has communicated that they may not start rolling out their 1 time initiative until late 2026 if not later. Until there is a concrete plan on how IRCC plans on running their 1 time initiative (and whether they actually have the capacity to follow their own plan) how long it will take for protected people and refugees to secure PR is impossible to predict especially applicants from 2025.
thank you. do you have any idea when we will get pr card to our hand . any approx time period. for 2025 june applicants
July 24 2025 applicant i only receive temparory number i called to ircc they said my all documents are there they do not need any thing from me my application is in very initial background check .but still no AOR or biometrics
